10 Must-Have Snacks From Our Fave Gluten-Free + Vegan Mama
Vitamin Code Raw Prenatal and Flora DHA Supplement
Before delving into delicious snacks, let's get the important stuff out of the way. I can't stress enough how vital it is for gluten-free vegan mamas (or just vegan mamas in general) to invest in a prenatal and DHA supplement that specifically caters to their nutritional needs. After extensive research (and some not-so-fun trial and error during my first trimester), I found this dream duo.

Garden of Life's Vitamin Code prenatal contains 800 mcg of folate, 1,400 IU vitamin D (hellooo, calcium!), a generous dose of raw iron and tons of other beneficial supplements. I love that it also contains ginger, which is a lifesaver for morning sickness. For vegans, finding a DHA that doesn't contain fish oil can be a difficult feat. Flora's offering is derived from cultivated algae, so it's all good for us! In addition to supporting healthy brain, eye and nerve function, it's also super easy to swallow (i.e., not a horse pill). Although my doc approved both products with flying colors, be sure to consult your health care practitioner prior to use.
