This duo is blowing our minds with their delicious recipes and gorgeous photography. They’re one of a few European folks sharing their insights with us lately, if you haven’t noticed

We are head-over-heels for this whole açai bowl trend. Amazonian açai berries are deep purple and as full of antioxidants as you may imagine. Blending them frozen creates a super-powered sorbet that we just can’t get enough of. Omega fatty acids, fiber, minerals and a slew of other phyto-nutrients make this treat more than breakfast-worthy and, if you haven’t tried the berries yet, we suggest this killer recipe to get the full effect! Here are David and Luise of Green Kitchen Stories

Açaí Bowls like this one were Luise’s obsession when we traveled around California. They are perfect as a post-workout treat – packed with protein and antioxidants. You can buy açai berries dried, as a powder or a frozen puree. If you can’t find acai, you can use frozen blueberries instead.

  • Super Berry Açaí Bowl
    Serves 2

  • Ingredients

    Base
4 packs frozen Açaí berry puree - we love unsweetened from Sambazon (each pack is 3.5 oz)
2 cups plant milk of choice or coconut water
    2 bananas
    1 cup frozen strawberries
    2 tbsp hemp protein powder

    Topping
    1 cup granola
    2 handfuls fresh berries
    4 tbsp hemp seeds

  • Directions

Place all ingredients in a blender and pulse until thick and creamy. Add more milk if you prefer.

Pour the blend into two bowls, top with granola, berries and hemp seeds and serve immediately!

  1. Doesn’t this compromise food combing rules?

  2. Oh wow! I am looking forward to trying this – but not sure where to buy acai berries?..I will search the net for suppliers because I am looking for an alternative breakfast that gives me (and the hubby!) a really good start to the day. I am always looking for antioxidant recipes cos they help with my Crohn’s disease. Many thanks for this.
