Justin Gelband is “The Model Whisperer” and we’ve been drooling over his New York workouts from over here in L.A. for quite some time. Together with holistic nutritionist Vanessa Packer of lifestyle site bonberi, this is modelFIT: a unique, individualized approach to healthy living that is ultra-popular with the runway-walking set. Our August Guest Editor Lily Aldridge has been known to visit the studio from time to time, so we thought we’d finally reach out and ask these two NYC wellness champs to let us in on a few secrets.

All month long, we’ll be sharing simple how-tos from Justin on his favorite exercises from the studio’s five different fitness class formats, plus a model-worthy smoothie from Vanessa to supplement your workout routine.

First, Justin is walking us through one of his favorite moves from modelFIT Sculpting, an abs exercise that yields big results (sans crunches!). “This move is focused on the abs, however like most modelFIT exercises, this strengthens and tones the entire body,” Justin says. “I emphasize small slow movements, forcing the brain and body to connect. If done properly, you should keep resistance at all times. The smaller the movement, the better the results.” Follow your workout up with Vanessa’s tropical green maca smoothie – you’ll recover more efficiently and stay full for longer.

Justin Gelband’s Abs In 2 Steps

Step One:

Start in plank position with arms shoulder-width apart and knees hip-distance apart.

Step Two:

Bring your right knee to chest and hold for three seconds. Repeat the same steps with your left knee. Continue to alternate.
