Dear Chalkboard readers,
I am thrilled to be your guest editor for the month of March. This spring is an exciting time for my family and for me. Personally, my husband and I will be welcoming our first child and professionally, I am so proud of this season of Our America with Lisa Ling. I hope you all will be able to tune into the show on OWN where I’ll be tackling some of the toughest challenges facing our country such as obesity, sex trafficking, child exploitation, issues of faith, senior care and more with real information to help us overcome these issues.
Through my work with various organizations like iVolunteer, The Secret Society of Women as well as on my show, Our America on OWN I have taken countless journeys that have taught me so much about the world we live in and how we must all learn more and do more in order to make a difference. One of Oprah’s favorite Maya Angelou quotes is, “When you know better, you do better,” and I am always striving for this in my work and in my life.
I also hope to share a little bit about my personal journeys and the things that fortify me and give me peace of mind: We’ll be taking a tour of my home base in California where I have worked for years to build an energy-neutral home for my growing family. I’ll also be sharing some of the best advice I’ve ever received from family, friends and my mentors plus so much more. I’m so excited for the month and hope that the conversation we start here at The Chalkboard will inspire you to try to do good in your own life, which has always been my mantra and goal.
Here’s to a wonderful March!
