TCM GUEST EDITOR

Kris Carr

Hiya Chalk board-ians,

I’m thrilled to be your guest editor for the month of June! Summer is nearly here and I really want to encourage you to make more space in your life so you can enjoy the ripe + rejuvenating lazy summer days. In my work, I teach people how to take impeccable care of themselves. Unfortunately, I learned this skill the hard way.

On Valentine’s Day in 2003, I was diagnosed with a rare and incurable Stage IV cancer. Thankfully, it was slow moving. That day changed my life forever. And guess what? In retrospect, it actually changed it for the better. Cancer asked me to make myself my #1 priority. Um, let me tell you, it wasn’t easy. I had no idea how to do that! Plus I liked numbing out. I barely survived on fast food, fast dudes, cigs, too much booze and a whole host of other destructive doodads. I knew I was headed towards a major life crash, I just didn’t know how major! Poof. Overnight self-care became my new BFF and I vowed to learn the best practices for longevity, feeling better, living brighter and loving fully. In all honesty, if I knew how good it felt to feel good, I probably would have dumped my depressing vices long ago. Live and learn. Or learn that you might die and then truly LIVE and truly learn.

As my journey and exploration flourished, I experienced a level of unimaginable well-being and happiness – even with a life-threatening disease.

It’s been nearly ten years since my diagnosis and I continue to thrive. Cancer and I are currently tied (it’s not growing and I’m not stressing about it) and I intend to keep it that way! Now let’s focus on you. Don’t wait for a shitty wake-up call to start living full throttle. And it’s easier than you think. You don’t need to meditate at a monastery, sun gaze, quit your job or become a total food purist.

What kind of life are you thirsty for?

What does it look like?

Who’s in it? Who’s not in it?

What do you feel like in your new and shiny skin?

Over the next four weeks, we’ll explore some exciting tools for transformation. And I promise you this: It won’t be overwhelming. Bite size change can produce massive results.

Until next time, cheers to your health, spiritual wealth and happiness!

Peace + Veggies,

KC
