Happy National Coffee Day! Truthfully, we’re suppressing an eye roll over yet another day of celebration over something so small. And yet, we don’t need to be asked twice when it comes to the actual festivities. Recently, we’ve participated in holidays for donuts, yoga, ice cream, pancakes and, today, coffee. Because why not?
We’ve found a dozen great ideas from our own pages to help you celebrate National Coffee Day. Most of them are healthy hacks to upgrade that caffeinated cuppa. A few of them aren’t edible at all…
scrub your body with it
We love coffee scrubs! Not only do they smell incredible and help to wake us up, but luxe versions like Svelta’s coffee and raw sugar body scrub polishes and tones skin incredibly without being overly rough.
try the 10 latte
Want to kick it up and celebrate National Coffee Day in style? Head to one of L.A’s coolest coffee shops, Alfred Coffee and order the $10 Latte.
pack it with protein
Call us crazy, but we’re drinking protein powder in almost every cup of coffee we drink now! The texture can get a little chalky, but we’d hooked on the idea of getting the extra nourishment so easily. Try Sunwarrior’s vanilla flavor and throw it quickly in and out of the blender.
try it in almond milk
Pressed Juicery’s coffee almond milk is the ultimate cold, caffeinated treat. Fats from the almond milk keep the caffeine from hitting your bloodstream too quickly and the fresh vanilla bean rounds things out for the perfect flavor. We recommend drinking this straight or mixing it in smoothies, healthy popsicles and recipes of all kinds!
mix it with gelatin
make these coffee cups
What would coffee by without dessert? Combine the two with these crazy, healthy coffee tahini cream cups that are actually amazingly clean. We love this recipe from Rawsome Vegan Baking.
make it bulletproof
make coffee granola
This grain-free granola recipe is filled with coffee, cacao, coconut, maple syrup and vanilla. With rich flavors like these, along with a dozen nuts and seeds, you’ll never miss the grains – one of our favorite granola recipes of all time.
Add coconut butter
make a scrub at home
take it as a supplement
Green coffee bean powder contains quite a bit of caffeine too, but along with more powerful antioxidants that protect cells from toxins and DNA from damage. Read our superfood spotlight on the green goodness here.
Those shakers full of cinnamon at coffee houses everywhere are much more powerful than they appear. Just a sprinkle of cinnamon has powerful nutritive qualities and helps to balance blood sugar while you sip on that cuppa joe.
