TCM GUEST EDITOR

Meet our June Guest , Jason Wachob, author of the new Wellth, founder and CEO of mindbodygreen. We're breaking down the best health advice this health leader has to offer all month long. Read, bookmark and share his thoughts on men's health with the men in your life...

“Trust the process.” We’re totally on-board with the daily mantra of founder and CEO of mindbodygreen, Jason Wachob. In fact, we’re seeing eye-to-eye with Jason on just about everything wellness-related, as he shares below, and are delighted to host Jason as our first Guest Editor of the summer (he’s in good company!)

This June we’re going to be talking all things “wellth” related, focusing on the idea that cultivating wellness is the truest form of wealth in life and is something all of us have instant access to!  Jason’s compelling new book, Wellth (How I Learned To Build A Life, Not A Resume), is a guide to dynamic life balance and is also a state of mind, one that we share here at The Chalkboard and are eager to promote.

We’re kicking off the month with Jason’s daily routine below. Find out what this wellness leader is stashing in his NYC office, which author he’s devoted to, and which New York park is his go-to for meditation breaks…

My food philosophy in one sentence:

“Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.” Michael Pollan really nailed it.

Daily breakfast:

I have what I call my “Almond Chocolate Thunder Smoothie.” It’s a mix of Califia Farms almond milk, almond butter, Xymogen GHI chocolate protein powder and frozen blackberries or raspberries. It’s delicious. And coffee, usually black or with a little almond milk.

Daily supplements:

I had a parasite a few years ago and since then I’ve been taking tons of supplements that I tend to change up, but my one constant is that I always take a probiotic. Currently. I take a probiotic from Prescript Assist.

Daily non-negotiable:

Meditation. I never miss a day.

3 staples always in my medicine cabinet:

Burt’s Bees shaving cream and aftershave; Wellness Fizz, which is a more natural version of Airborne; and magnesium, which is great if you ever cramp.

Once a week for my health I:

Try to disconnect on the weekend by reading or watching TV. I tend to work too much and disconnecting is something that’s a work in progress for me!

Best part of my workday:

My commute is only three blocks and I work with my wife… so I’d say getting to walk to and from work with my wife is something that’s pretty amazing.

Always have a stash of _____ in the office:

Sage. I sage the office periodically. Gotta maintain those good office vibes!

Simplest way to improve health:

Eat more vegetables; Eat less sugar, refined carbs and processed foods!

At least once a week I cook…

Some sort of a bowl and I try to mix it up.

Best healthy food option on the go:

I love salted cashews.

Go-to juice or smoothie:

I love all things infused with almond butter. And I’m a sucker for a great carrot juice with ginger or lemon.

Fave workout:

Recently I’ve gone back to the bodyweight basics. I’ll do push-ups to failure, combined with dips and situps a few times a week. It takes me less than ten minutes and seems to do the trick.

Fave mind-body break:

Going for a walk in Brooklyn Bridge Park, which is around the corner from our office.

Fave way to workout beyond the gym:

Yoga. I practice at home every weekend. I love a relaxing 15-20 minute Vinyasa flow!

If I could give just one piece of health advice it would be…

Eat more vegetables.

My current mantra:

I trust the process of life.
