The faithful gathered Tuesday morning at Stella McCartney’s Beverly Hills store for a sun-drenched asana session with yogi Kathryn Budig. Tucked behind the gorgeous Stella McCartney storefront hides a beautiful tree-lined courtyard which the ladies at the Stella brand filled to the brim with women clad in Lulu Lemon and Stella McCartney for Adidas ready to salute the sun and enjoy pressed juices.
Kathryn Budig‘s heart-centric practice is admired by yogis everywhere and with good reason. One of Kathryn’s core principles is to challenge her students to face their fears, both on the mat and in life. That might translate into some advanced poses in class and maybe even some failed attempts, but, as Kathryn says, ‘the ego heals quickly’.
Kathryn followed the session with a light teaching on juicing – something Kathryn is a huge advocate of. What yoga session would be complete without a little fresh-pressed juice? Pressed Juicery flavors like Greens 3 and Apple Cinnamon were offered and Kathryn shared her favorite juicing tips: drinking green juice when traveling to soothe digestion and brewing up a huge batch of apple, apple cider vinegar and cinnamon at home to experience what she calls ‘liquid apple pie’!
Tuesday’s event was also hosted by Yoga Gives Back, an organization that uses the concept of micro-finance to turn individual yoga sessions into opportunities to support one of the 103 women and children in their program. Yoga Gives Back supports individuals in India for up to five years, providing a lasting and sustainable change through micro-credit. Through sponsored yoga sessions or funds donated from studios, Yoga Gives Back is part of the incredible movement in the fitness world to incorporate charitable giving into our workouts.
