For our latest DIY we tapped the amazing Amy Blessing to show us how to craft the ultimate Valentine’s Day card. She’s always whipping up the most beautiful, thoughtful crafts, cards, menus, table-scapes and much more so we couldn’t think of anyone who was better suited to show us how to make the perfect card that will make everyone happy this Valentine’s Day!

  • How to make the ultimate V-day card by Amy Blessing of BBB

  • Supply List:

    - Scissors
    - Scrap paper (I used white, but you could use anything - hot pink, red, etc.)
    - Blank note cards and envelopes
    - Pretty font. My new favorite, and the one I used here, is called Jellyka Delicious Cake. You could also hand write or stamp the cards.
    - Sewing machine and thread. I used hot pink and pale pink.
    - Heart punch. I used this layering heart punch from Paper Source, which was great because I got many different sizes. However, just a simple punch would work, as well.

  • Step 1:

Punch! Punch out a ton of hearts. I love things stark white and basic, so I mostly punched white, but I also tried a few with color.

  • Step 2:

Print your Valentine’s Day wishes on your note cards. I love the luxe white 4 bar cards from Paper Source, but you could use anything. And, as I mentioned above, if you’d like to skip the printing process, you could stamp them or hand write your notes.

  • Step 3:

After you set up your sewing machine, place the punched hearts along the top of your note card. This is a bit of a balancing act, but I got much better and faster the more I did.

  • Step 4:

Feed the card and the hearts slowly through the sewing machine. (If you wanted to skip this step, you could also just use a bit of glue to tack them onto the card. My very favorite glue is Coccoina. It doesn’t get too sticky and you can’t see a bunch of gross glue marks through the paper.)

  • Step 5:

Carefully cut the excess hearts around the top and sides of the note card so that the card will fit into its corresponding size envelope. Another option here is to use a larger size envelope for the cards. This way, you can leave the hearts untrimmed and the pretty thread strings. I wish I’d thought of this before I bought my envelopes!
