We’re loving the insights coming from April Guest Editor, David Wolfe, this month. As part of his month with us, David is also sharing insights from an elite group of wellness pros who will be sharing the stage with him later this month at The Longevity Now Conference here in L.A. First up to bat? Dave Asprey of Bulletproof.
Dave Asprey and his Bulletproof brand are best known for one of our favorite trends in coffee ever, the widely popular Bulletproof Coffee. His first book, the New York Times bestseller The Bulletproof Diet, is a fascinating story tracing his wellness journey through two decades and over a quarter of a millions dollars “bio-hacking” his way to a skinnier frame, higher IQ, better night’s sleep and other high-value health goals. His story is truly fascinating and there’s a ton to learn from all the time and money Dave spent shaping his own biochemistry!
We asked this emerging wellness guru to break down a few of his regular health habits and go-to resources. From the monasteries of Tibet to EEG brain testing facilities on the other side of the world, Dave has seen and tried it all. Glean just a few tips that he’s come away with on the other side…
Daily breakfast:
Bulletproof Coffee.
My food philosophy in one sentence:
The Bulletproof Diet is about eliminating things that make you weak and focusing on foods that make you feel amazing and help you perform at your natural capacity.
Daily supplements:
I take a unique, customized stack every day that almost always includes each of the top 10 Bulletproof supplements, and always includes Unfair Advantage.
Can’t live without my:
Upgraded Coffee, butter and salt.
Once a week for my health I:
Make sure to eat some form of grass-fed liver, usually powdered in capsules because liver tends to be gross.
Fave workout:
Very high-intensity electrical muscle stimulation or body-weight exercises on the Bulletproof Whole Body Vibration Plate.
Best healthy food option on the go:
Bulletproof Coffee, or lightly steamed veggies with butter and Brain Octane Oil.
3 staples always in my medicine cabinet:
Glutathione Force, Activate Coconut Charcoal, guaifenesin (an expectorant that prevents colds from getting nasty during travel).
At least once a week I cook…
”Get Some” ice cream from the The Bulletproof Diet book to share with my wife and kids.
If I could give just one piece of health advice it would be...
Screw perfection. You can always do something better, no matter how perfect it is. So resolve to do something better every day, and stop worrying about perfect!
Current reading list:
Stew Friedman’s Leading the Life You Want, Brendon Burchard’s The Motivation Manifesto, Tony Robbins’ Money.
Ingredient in products I always avoid:
Hidden forms of MSG. That stuff is kryptonite.
Crazy health idea that actually works:
You can eat as much food as you want without counting calories if you supply your body with the healthy fats and nutrients that it needs and avoid the bad stuff.
5 things always in my travel gear:
Grass-fed butter, Brain Octane Oil, Activated Charcoal, Glutathione Force, pink Himalayan sea salt, noise-canceling headphones and great pair of polarized wrap around sunglasses so I can totally relax on a plane.
Non-negotiable:
I avoid mold in my food or environment, gluten and artificial sweeteners and additives.
Simplest way to improve health:
The first and most important steps on The Bulletproof Diet are to eliminate damaged fats and chemicals and gluten from your food.
Go-to juice or smoothie:
The Upgraded Kale Shake from The Bulletproof Diet book.
Fave healthy getaway:
Exploring the woods by my house along with my kids.
My current mantra:
You are the master of your own biology.
