We have the Bees in New Zealand to thank for creating some of the world’s most coveted honey. Manuka honey comes from Kiwi bees who pollinate the Manuka plant and create a special strain of honey super-charged with natural antibacterial activity. Manuka honey’s nutritional profile is up to four times that of a normal honey and packed with enzymes, vitamins, minerals and animo acids known to support the immune system and hormones.

The honey’s anti-bacterial benefits can be used topically in skincare, but we love to consume the honey for maximum benefits – either straight off the spoon or in a recipe like this one from wellness blogger, Jeanette Ogden of Shut The Kale Up. Make sure you use a honey that is certified Manuka, there are a few grades of the sticky stuff with increasing levels of strength. Wedderspoon’s brand is our go-to.

This sweet chocolate tonic is packed with powerful ingredients and can be used to replace less nutritionally sound drinks first thing in the morning as an afternoon pick-me-up or a post-dinner nightcap!
