Juicing is a way of life here at The Chalkboard. By drinking just one bottle of fresh-pressed green juice a day, we get a major boost of all of the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and life-building enzymes we need to function at our optimum. It’s a simple practice, but an important one – one that makes the world of health and wellness a little less complicated. We can’t help but spread the juicing love and are going gaga for this juicing documentary hosted on Food Matters TV.

Read a little more about Food Matters from our piece earlier this week, but the bottom line is that incredible documentaries like this one – that get down and dirty about natural health and the value of juicing – are now available all in one place and we’ve never seen that before. Food Matters TV is an online platform dedicated to educating subscribers about life-changing natural health protocols. It’s the ultimate wellness video library, featuring an array of topics, including not-to-be-missed docs like Love Bomb and this weekend’s Super Juice Me.

Super Juice Me follows the heroic mission of Jason Vale, otherwise known as “The Juice Master,” who believes that diet, nutrition and disease have all been over-complicated – and that it’s time for people to take back their health by juicing. At his Juicy Oasis retreat in Portugal, Jason takes eight people who collectively suffer from twenty two different chronic diseases and puts them on his 28-day “Juice Only” diet to test two intertwined theories: that chronic disease is caused by toxicity and nutritional deficiency, and that the best way to treat disease is simply with high-quality nutrition, which can be obtained from juicing. The results of the 28-day experiment turn out to be jaw dropping.

Change isn’t easy, but juicing is. That’s the premise of this documentary. Deepen your juicing journey: Sign up for FMTV, watch Super Juice Me, and start drinking one juice a day. Catch a special free screening of Super Juice Me on FMTV on Saturday, October 25th at 8 a.m. EST. The documentary will be live online through Sunday the 26th at 8 p.m. EST. Want more? Hop on a live call with Jason via FMTV on Sunday the 26th from 6-7:30p.m. EST and ask him all your juicy questions on healthy living!

Not sure juicing is your cup of tea? If you struggle with any of the following five conditions, it might be time to join the juice revolution…

5 Signs it’s Time to Get Juicing

Inflammation

If chronic inflammation is a normal part of your life, consider reaching for fresh juice. Research has shown that foods can be extremely helpful in reducing inflammation and pain levels in the body. Common inflammatory conditions include allergies, Alzheimer’s, asthma, arthritis, autoimmune diseases, bursitis, cancer, colitis, cystitis, diabetes, gastritis, heart disease, hepatitis, myocarditis, nephritis, osteoporosis, prostatitis, sinusitis, tendonitis and vaginitis. Some fruits and vegetables that target inflammation are apples, lemon, ginger and cayenne. Apple contains precious antioxidants that protect the cells from damage, thereby preventing the occurrence of inflammation. Lemon, being naturally alkaline, neutralizes toxic waste, and reduces the inflammatory process. Finally, ginger and cayenne are both inherently natural anti-inflammatory foods, promoting the dilation of blood vessels and therefore the movement of chemicals that help to reduce inflammation and pain in the body. Drink away the pain!

Headaches

One of the most important underlying factors in the occurrence of headaches, whether tension headaches or migraines, is nutrition. A deficiency in B vitamins, magnesium, potassium and sodium have been found to lead to headaches. Once these levels have been normalized, headaches subside. One of the easiest ways to boost your vitamin and mineral levels is with fresh juice. Choose to juice fresh fruits and vegetables high in these nutrients, like spinach, celery, parsley or romaine, and add them to coconut water. Coconut water is the best source of electrolytes, and includes sodium, potassium and magnesium.

Stress/Anxiety

It is virtually impossible to live in today’s world without some level of stress or anxiety. One of the main side effects of constant stress is the rapid loss of vitamin C. Vitamin C is vital to adrenal glands’ function, but when stressed, these glands burn through it at a high rate. This leads to vitamin-C deficiency, resulting in poorly functioning adrenals, a suppressed immune system and rapid aging. This is why increasing your intake of vitamin C when under stress is so imperative. In addition, it is vital to increase your magnesium levels as well. Magnesium helps to calm the nerves, easing our anxiety and improving our ability to tackle stress. Juicing dark leafy greens and fruits, such as citrus, tropical fruits and berries, is the easiest way to boost your levels of both vitamin C and magnesium. Make green juice your daily insurance to beat the stressful lifestyle.

Skin Disorder

Whether you are looking to protect your skin from UV damage, or hoping to clear up a nagging case of acne, psoriasis, or eczema, turn to juice. Look for a juice that contains vegetables high in vitamin A, and fruits high in polyphenols. Vitamin A is essential for healthy skin and its development. It ensures the proper differentiation of our cells, providing the building blocks for making new cells. As for polyphenols, research reveals that polyphenols found in apples may act as a natural sunscreen, protecting us from UV damage. Finally, fresh pressed juice contains a slew of enzymes and specialized nutrients that help the body to cleanse toxins. Toxins are pushed out of the body via the skin, so the less toxins present, the healthier and clearer the skin.

Bone Loss

To keep our bones and teeth strong, we need a combination of factors: alkalizing minerals, such as magnesium and calcium; adequate sun exposure (for making vitamin D); healthy kidneys; and vitamin K. And where do you think we are going to get these vitamins and minerals? You guessed it, fresh-pressed juice. Juice is the best way to get these minerals and vitamins because they are easily absorbed by the body. This will help to rebuild your bones and teeth, keeping them strong and resistant against disease. Look to juice vegetables rich in magnesium and calcium, such spinach; dark leafy greens rich in vitamin K, such as kale and collards; and alkalizing produce such as lemons, cucumbers and celery.
