We love fashion, but cringe lately at the idea of buying pieces we know are short-term trends that could become wasteful quickly. Especially when we’re home more often and wondering just how many dinner dates we’ll wear that puffy pillow bag on before it feels dated.

This week, we caught a glimpse of Jennifer Lopez posing on Instagram before an interview with the New York Times in H&M. The entire head-to-toe hot pink ensemble is — surprisingly — made of highly-sustainable recycled polyester. It comes from H&M’s collab with REPREVE® who makes fiber materials from recycled plastic bottles that could otherwise end up in the ocean.

Lopez’s stylist Rob Zangardi got it right with this intense color in a mix of textures. Zangardi also dressed Gwyneth for her recent Architectural Digest home reveal, including a look by Khaite, a brand we know to be on the cutting edge of low-waste practices as well.

Sustainable fashion initiatives like these are slowly, but surely creeping into the mainstream and making it into some of the most high-profile style coverage out there.

The sustainable looks on big names this week got us thinking about the recycled-material pieces we love now — and how we can invest in more. Here are a few recycled pieces we already own or have shopping tabs open on now…

7 Recycled Fashion Brands We’re Wearing Now

H&M Conscious sweaters | We’re leaning into this mega-brand’s eco-offerings with subtler picks from the collection like this ribbed top in flattering shades we can wear every day. They also make plenty of Conscious loungewear.

Rothy’s flats | This shoe brand has been on the recycled materials trend from the start. We live in the brand’s comfortable pointed toe flats knit from recycled plastic bottles.

Christy Dawn Dresses | We’ve been covering this LA-made brand from the start and have watched as their deadstock material dresses have made it into the bods of California state-of-mind babes world-wide. Shop looks you like at Christy Dawn quickly: the deadstock fabrics are often in short supply and stock goes quickly.

AVRe trainers | Another shoe brand that’s caught on to recyclables, this incredibly soft and chic running shoe from AVRE has become one of our favorites. It’s also made with REPREVE® recycled plastic bottles and will run you just over $100.

Dippin’ Daisys Swimwear | Don’t skip on this oddly swimwear brand (Dippin’ Dots? For the beach?). Their swim collections are everything we’re hoping to pack when we’re ready to travel internationally again, including this charming checkered bikini and a classic tank that’s chic as hell. 95% of the suits are made from pre- and post-consumer nylon.

Etica Denim | ETICA uses Refibra, an upcycled cellulose fiber made from recycled cotton. They also utilize paneling from upcycled fabric scraps and a low impact wash process using 90% less water. Don’t miss their straight cut jeans and unique jumpsuits.

Grey State loungewear | This casual womenswear brand offers everything you want to wear at home, and almost everything is made from upcycled cutting waste. Click through their collection of soft loungewear til you find something your WFH wardrobe is missing.
