Hollywood flocks to celeb makeup artist Katey Denno for her expertise in red carpet gorgeousness, but what we really love about this makeup maven is her clean beauty prowess. This look on hilarious actress Rebel Wilson is case in point. Try the full look for holiday party season using products that won’t irritate your skin – or harm the environment. This totally sexy, slightly throwback look can be mastered with tips from the green mastermind makeup artist herself…
Rebel Wilson’s peaches-and-cream complexion, stunning smile and gorgeous eyes make doing her makeup so much fun. Because she would be the center of attention for most of the night – taking the stage to receive an award and give a speech – I knew that I wanted to keep her makeup simple so she wouldn’t have to worry about touch-ups, yet I wanted to make it glamorous, with a touch of old Hollywood to complement her fantastic ruby-red sequined dress.
Skin Prep: Because this was the first time I’d worked with her and I didn’t know her skin type yet, I prepped her flawless skin with hydration from the Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream from REN’s sensitive skin line. (I’ve learned that as a makeup artist, you can never be too careful with what you put on skin!). I then used Kjaer Weis’ foundation brush to sweep on Kjaer Weis foundation (I knew I wanted a more matte finish to her skin so she could go powder-free), and pressed and blended it in using a dampened (and then wrung out in a towel) beauty blender.
Eye lights: Keeping her eye makeup simple with a bit of a late 1940s vibe was key for me, so I pressed shadow from RMS Beauty – ‘Sunset Beach-43,’ which is a crushed pearl highlight – all around her eyes along both lash lines, and into the inner corners. I then used a slightly more taupe/cocoa shade along the crease of her lid, also from RMS Beauty – ‘Tempting Touch 71.’
Liner + Lashes: Along her lash line I pressed jet-black liner from W3LL People, and then went over it with liquid black liner from Zuzu. I curled her lashes and applied multiple coats of mascara from Honest Beauty, along with a row of strip lashes from Girl Get Glamorous.
Brow game: Her brows were filled in using Eco Brow, in a mixture of Liz and Penelope, and I always keep cotton swabs on hand to blend, blend, blend the edges for a natural look.
full flush: I love a hint of a pink flush on cheeks, so I dusted ‘Apple Blossom,’ a light, petal pink loose-powder blush from Alima Pure onto the apples of her cheeks.
peekaboo Lip: I finished the look with a few good swipes of lipstick from Ilia Beauty, in a pale peachy pink nude, called ‘These days,’ which I then topped with a hint of Ilia’s ‘Peekaboo‘ gloss to draw even more attention to her gorgeous pout.
