I don’t know about you, but I have dry lips all year long. I’m constantly reaching for my lip balm to reapply. I don’t even want to think about how much lip balm I’ve ingested and the amount of money I’ve spent on purchasing them!
This week, I decided to take a stab at making my own lip balm. It was a bit daunting, but I’m very surprised at how easy and quick it was to make. I may never buy a lip balm again!
1 tablespoon of each (makes about ten 5 gram containers worth):
- Beeswax
- Coconut oil
- Coconut butter
- Shea butter
Directions: 1. Melt about a tablespoon of beeswax in a very small pan over low heat. 2. Add in and melt the coconut oil, coconut butter and shea butter. 3. Once all the ingredients are melted, carefully spoon into small containers. 4. Optional: Add a bit of your favorite colored lip balm to give your lip balm some color. 5. Allow to cool and harden. Should only take 5 minutes at most! Enjoy~
I wasn’t sure how well the lip balm would turn out, but I’m very pleased! The lip balm is just as good as the store bought ones. It’s soft, very moisturizing and has a faint cocoa scent. Now, I can reapply all I want and know that I’m not ingesting harmful chemicals that I can’t pronounce. All natural and made by me! I hope you’ll try this beauty DIY too!
Until next time, stay pretty… inside and out.
