It seems like we run into the gentlemen bartenders shaking up Pharmacie cocktails everywhere we go – and we’re quite happy about it. Founder, Talmadge Lowe, is shaking up some of the freshest and best drinks at the coolest parties in town lately and we’re all about it. With a healthy dose of respect for classic cocktails and ingredients, plus the fresh, farm-to-table twists that define the modern cocktail, Pharmacie is keeping LA tipsy in the most stylish ways possible.
At our recent Mother’s Day tea with Jenni Kayne, Pharmacie contocted three mother-loving cocktail recipes just perfect for a sunny weekend brunch or tea. The Sunday Punch is a modern classic, while The Mademoiselle was created especially for the afternoon. Pair with our tea time sweets recipes from Valerie Confections, a few of our favorite salad recipes…and then follow it up with Pressed Juicery’s current juice cleanse special. Cheers!
The Mademoiselle
Ingredients
1/2 oz gin
1/2 oz maraschino cherry liqueur
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
3 oz chilled Champagne
Directions
Combine all ingredients (except Champagne) in a mixing or pint glass and stir briskly. Pour this mixture into a Champagne coupe or flute glass. Top with cold Champagne. Garnish with a cherry.
Sunday Punch
Ingredients
1 1/2 oz vodka
2 oz fresh grapefruit juice
1 oz rosemary simple syrup*
garnish with a rosemary sprig
Directions
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker over ice and shake vigorously. Then strain over new ice into a high-ball glass.
*Rosemary syrup is just water (10 oz) and sugar (8 oz) and 10 – 12 medium sprigs of rosemary. Heat sugar and water until the sugar dissolves, take off heat and add rosemary for steeping. Always let it cool to room temperature before using. Refrigerating over night is preferred.
