Jennifer Garner is looking good. Like, really good. And the blood sugar-balancing, nutritionist-approved smoothie recipe below is partly to blame.
To get in shape for her latest role as a modern-day superhero in the new movie Peppermint, Jennifer spent three grueling months training her butt off. The actress teamed up with the dream team of total body transformation: fitness guru, Simone De La Rue and holistic nutritionist, Kelly LeVeque. The work was intense but the results speak for themselves. We recently caught up with Simone to discuss the dirty deets of Jen’s training program (get the interview here).
As any wellness fanatic knows, hard work in the gym means little to nothing if you’re not putting effort into what and how you eat. That’s where Kelly comes into play. We love Kelly’s balanced approach to nutrition. Her philosophy focuses on the ‘Fab 4’, a combination of protein, fat, fiber and greens. Fab 4 smoothie recipes like this one are a key component. We asked Kelly to share the smoothie Jennifer loved the most during training, and she shared that it was a custom combination of Kelly’s formula and Jen’s own fave ingredients to nourish tired muscles, curb cravings, and keep blood sugar balanced without a crash later.
Whether you’re fueling a serious fitness kick like Jen, or you’re just looking for a clean and functional blend to work into your weekly repertoire, this smoothie is sure to satisfy…
Jennifer Garner’s Workout Smoothie
1 serving chocolate coconut protein powder
1 Tbsp almond butter
1 Tbsp flax seed
handful of spinach
¼ cup frozen blueberries
2 cups unsweetened almond milk
Place all the ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend to your desired consistency.
Is there a particular clean brand of chocolate coconut protein powder that is recommended? Thanks!
Was thinking same thing! Chocolate Coconut Protein Powder…..would love to know who makes it?’!!!!!!
I Googled the powder description and Primal Kitchen’s Chocolate Coconut Primal Fuel came up in the search. I wonder if it’s possibly that? It looks like it’s a clean source of protein!
Yes that’s it. I worked with Kelly as my nutritionist for a bit
Thanks for this great post on fitness recipe. I love this recipe because it’s a blood sugar-balancing recipe
