Before you roll your eyes and call it basic, close your eyes and picture your first sip: the creamy texture, the coffee aroma, the sparkling scent of nutmeg and cinnamon, and that feeling of pure, jump-in-a-pile-of-leaves kind of joy. It’s a pumpkin spice latte, betch.
‘Basic’ reputation aside, what really puts a damper on our seasonal obsession are the ingredients in a common cup of PSL. According to food industry activist, Vani Hari, AKA the Food Babe, many popular coffee shop PSL’s contain questionable additives and crazy sugar content. According to Vani’s research, just one pump of pumpkin spice syrup can add around 30 calories and 7.5 grams of sugar; most large lattes have four pumps of pumpkin spice syrup, so the standard order has 120 calories and 30 grams of sugar in the syrup alone. We’re not even going to touch on what’s actually in the syrup.
Fear not, friends, because we’ve found the ultimate alternative in Pressed Juicery’s new Pumpkin Oat Milk. The limited-edition seasonal release is made from whole food ingredients we feel good about: oat milk, maple syrup, pumpkin, vanilla, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg — and tastes insane.
Sweetened naturally and so low-maintenance it’s almost a crime, we’re not sure how we’ve survived a lifetime of autumns without this recipe. Here’s how we’re whipping up a quick and clean pumpkin spice latte using the new oat milk!
