Every summer we wait for it: rhubarb season! We’re crazy for this sweet pink veggie in a classic strawberry-rhubarb pie each summer and now we’ve got Pressed Juicery’s new rhubarb raspberry concoction to keep us company through every beach trip and desk-side summer daydream. Pick up this latest, greatest flavor and then make plans to visit one of the other nine hostpots doing rhubarb right…
Maude – (Los Angeles) Chef Curtis Stone’s hit new restaurant featured an all-rhubarb menu in May, and we hope you rhubarb fanatics got a mouthful. But, if not, don’t despair! Chef Curtis shared this rhubarb tart recipe with us and we’re making it all summer long.
harlowe – (Los Angeles) A cocktail made with rhubarb “boba” called Rye the Long Face? Yes, please – sign us up. This pun-ny drink can be found at the brand new Harlowe in West Hollywood, and it’s made with rye, honey, lemon, apple cider vinegar and pickled rhubarb boba!
Faith + Flower – (Los Angeles) This Downtown LA hotspot is our new fave Eastside brunch haunt. We’re dying for the decor and loving the food for brunch and dinner. Go for the rhubarb compote filled greek yogurt parfait, stay for the cozy-cool Roaring Twenties vibe.
Jean-Gorges’ Nougatine & the Terrance at Jean-Gorges – (New York) Serving the signature and seasonal dishes of renown chef, Jean-Georges, Nougatine is the place to spot celebrities, socialites, and the movers and shakers of NYC. Rhubarb Lychee Trifle is on the dessert menu, and we have a hunch it’s the main draw for this elite crowd.
Preserve 24 – (New York) An American wood-fire-fueled restaurant, Preserve 24 is breaking all boundaries housing a 4,000-pound iceberg from Greenland for your viewing pleasure. What is also surprising is how delicious their Strawberry Rhubarb Pancake is. Topped with whipped cream and fresh strawberries, this classic breakfast item is not to be missed.
The Gander – (New York) The Gander is Chef Jesse Schenker’s new American restaurant that focuses on innovative yet approachable cuisine. And what we found to be extremely approachable was their German Pancake. Paired with Rhubarb Marmalade and the classic maple syrup, you’d be hard pressed to find a better brunch dish to ease you into the weekend.
Pressed Juicery – (Nationwide) – We love our bottles of Pressed Juicery year round, but we’re particularly head-over-heels for their newest seasonal sip: Raspberry, Rhubarb, Watermelon, Strawberry, Pineapple! Simple, sweet, and super refreshing, we’ll definitely be stashing a bottle or two of this antioxidant-packed goodness in our beach bags this summer.
Ame Restaurant – (San Francisco) Super-chef Hiro Sone’s Ame inside the St. Regis Hotel makes a Rhubarb and Apple Cobbler with Tangerine Sherbet that is just as fun to eat as sitting in Ame’s gorgeous dining room.
FireFly Restaurant – (San Francisco) This neighborhood spot in Noe Valley makes upscale comfort food to come back for again and again. We love the Goat Cheese Mousse with Rhubarb, Elderflower and Candied Pistachios – a dreamy dish with flavors that scream “summer”!
Gary Danko Restaurant – (San Francisco) This illustrious San Francisco staple is the perfect spot for special occasions. We love this glamorous dish with just a hint of our star ingredient: Lemon Pepper Duck Breast with Duck Hash, Bacon Braised Endive and Rhubarb.
Hit up one (or all!) of these hotspots and let us know what you think. In the mood to stay in? Try this recipe for a delicious rhubarb pie in a jar at home!
