When it comes to style, we’ll have what Jenni’s having. Jenni’s designer-slash-lifestyle-guru vibes are all about minimalism in the best way possible: the most beautiful essentials and nothing less.

We often gather at Jenni’s for Chalkboard cooking classes. Yesterday, we shared with you all the details from our gathering with Sweet Laurel Bakery for Mother’s Day. Sweet Laurel’s healthified cakes were the star of the show, but Jenni had prepared the perfect environment as always. Enjoy Jenni’s insights below and pop over to Rip&Tan today to let all the gorgeousness of their new re-design in – the site now includes the clothing and home lines!

a beautiful mess

I really don’t like anything to look too perfect… I gravitate toward an unfussy aesthetic, while still being mindful of the small details.

garden greens

Rachel Thibodeaux of Finch Florals used locally grown garden roses, sage, bay leaf and olive branches in our vases and mocked the greens and blooms for the napkin rings.

freshly cut

Since this was a family style brunch, I wanted to keep the floral decor simple, but feeling lush and organic. For a fresh spring vibe, it’s nice to cluster greenery and a few blooms rambling down the table and accent each setting with a fresh cut napkin ring.

posy polish

For place settings, I love to use linen napkins simply rolled, with a flower on top – so easy and yet so polished.

perfect settings

I adore Irving Places elegant, functional pieces for everyday use – they work for any event/table. These stunning porcelain vases come in small, medium, and large – I also love their dinner and dessert plates.

so board

I also love serving on cutting boards like the one we used from Garden Trading – they’re so easy to cut and serve on, and make for a beautiful presentation.

head to toe

I like to keep my outfit minimalistic so I’m able to be the best hostess possible. For this brunch, I paired my cashmere jersey sweater with a simple yet elegant linen wrap skirt. I like to stick to flats when I’m  hostessing, and these Mule Slides kept me comfortable all afternoon long.
