French pharmacy beauty products are all over social media, with everyone sharing their must-have finds and cult favorites. But with so many products getting attention, which ones are actually worth picking up?

We asked Dr. Natacha Bonjout, French pharmacist, cosmetic chemist, and founder of Bonjout Beauty, to share the products she personally swears by. From everyday skincare essentials to lesser-known pharmacy finds, here are her favorites and why they deserve a spot in your routine.

Mimétique – Skin Booster (30ml)

Why it’s a staple of mine:

“This product is a true staple in my morning routine. I love how it feels rich yet incredibly lightweight, instantly smoothing my skin and restoring a silky texture without any irritation. It helps visibly even my skin tone and help fade the look of dark spots, allowing me to avoid retinol (which can be too drying) thanks to its hero ingredient, bakuchiol, a natural retinol alternative with a truly exceptional oil-to-silk texture.” – Natacha Bonjout

The brand is known for its ultra-clean, high-performance products that spotlight biomimetic ingredients and thoughtful formulation. Hexomédine Antiseptic Gel (30g)

Hexomédine antiseptic gel for localized skin application

Why it’s a staple of mine:

“Hexomédine is a true pharmacy essential that I always keep in my toiletry bag. I reach for it whenever a small blemish appears, as it helps dry out the spot while supporting faster skin regeneration. Its highly antiseptic formula eliminates germs effectively, and the easy-to-apply format makes it a simple, reliable solution I trust as a pharmacist.” – Natacha Bonjout

Boiron – Homéoplasmine Cream (40g)

Homéoplasmine cream for dry and irritated skin

Why it’s a staple of mine:

“Homéoplasmine is one of my winter essentials. Its ultra-rich, deeply nourishing texture makes it my go-to for chapped lips and dry, cracked skin, especially during colder months. I apply it with my fingertips on my lips, on dry areas, and even on my children’s hands when frequent washing causes dryness or eczema. It’s the one product I truly rely on to manage winter-dry lips—nothing else works as well.” – Natacha Bonjout

NUXE – Honey Lip Balm (0.52oz)

Why it’s a staple of mine:

“The lip balm is one of my favorite lip treatments, especially when lips are very dry or sensitive. It’s enriched with honey and propolis and deeply nourishes, repairs, and instantly relieves discomfort while leaving lips soft and protected. Its rich, comforting texture and subtle, delicious scent make it a true pleasure to use, with a beautiful dressing effect on the lips.” – Natacha Bonjout

It’s strongly recommended by pharmacists and is widely available in pharmacies and beauty retailers across Europe, the U.S., and internationally.

That same philosophy of thoughtful formulation and hardworking skincare extends to Bonjout’s own beauty line. Inspired by the French pharmacy staples she grew up with, she set out to create a modern interpretation of the multipurpose creams that have been trusted for generations. The result is La Cream, a formula designed to simplify increasingly complicated skincare routines without sacrificing performance.

What inspired you to create
La Cream?

The inspiration really came from the French pharmacy creams I grew up with. I’ve always loved this idea of one beautifully formulated hero product that does so much.

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré is probably the most iconic example. It’s this incredibly rich cream that French women have used for generations, and that makeup artists love because it can be used in so many different ways. It embodies something very French to me: you don’t need ten products if you formulate one product exceptionally well. That philosophy is really at the root of Bonjout.

As I was approaching 40, I remember looking at my bathroom shelf. I had Le Balm, but next to it I still had a vitamin C serum, a retinol, and a rich moisturizer.

So I started imagining what the Embryolisse of today could be. Not another basic all-in-one crème, but a high-formulation hero cream for skin longevity. Something with an extraordinary mix of actives, an incredible texture, and results designed to go beyond the immediate cosmetic effect.

I wanted the richness and sensoriality of the French pharmacy creams I loved, but with the level of correction I was still looking for from all those separate actives.

That was really the beginning of La Cream.

What gap did you feel was missing in the market?

One truly complete formula.

In the U.S., I saw incredibly sophisticated skincare, but also increasingly complicated routines. A vitamin C for brightness, retinol for wrinkles, peptides for firmness, another serum for hydration, then a moisturizer on top.

That felt very different from the French pharmacy philosophy I grew up with, where one beautifully formulated hero product is expected to do a lot.

To me, the formula can be incredibly sophisticated, so the routine doesn’t have to be. That is really at the heart of Bonjout.

With La Cream, I wanted one formula that could address wrinkles, firmness, dark spots, hydration and prevention at the same time, without compromising on performance.

Le Balm is the healer of the skin barrier. I felt we needed its counterpart for skin longevity, something that could help correct what you see today while supporting how your skin ages over time.

What did you approach differently with the formula?

Everything. I turned the cream inside out.

Most creams are predominantly water (80%). I built La Cream differently, with approximately 80% oil and 20% water, the closest to the skin’s natural lipid environment.

It’s a rare and complex structure that allows the cream to be incredibly rich and nourishing, yet absorb quickly and feel silky, never greasy or sticky. And it helps deliver the actives beyond the surface, for results that last over time.

Then I built the actives with the same philosophy. I didn’t want one hero ingredient. I wanted a complete system, combining peptides, NAD+ boosters, brightening actives, and native calendula cells to work on multiple signs of skin aging at once.

For me, high formulation means you don’t choose between efficacy and sensoriality. The actives, the texture, the way it absorbs, the way your skin feels afterward, all of it has to be exceptional.

It took three years and around 100 iterations to get there. That, to me, is the new French pharmacy.
