Superfood, Supermodel: 20 Reasons Elle Macpherson Looks This Good In A Bikini

In 2015, when elle macpherson first launched her beloved wellness brand, WelleCo she served as our gorgeous summer Guest Editor. She’s gone on to build WelleCo into a wildly successful nutrition brand and continues looking this amazing  in a bikini year after year. Elle is a role model through and through and her advice on achieving “The Body” status is pretty fantastic.

We love her insights on body fat, green powder, daily disciplines and other real-deal topics that you can take to the bank, er, beach. Pore over each and every one of Elle’s useful and straight-forward health tips…

Living Well with Elle Mcpherson

Daily breakfast:

At around 6:30 a.m. I eat a breakfast that often contains protein. It is either one poached egg on sunflower or dark rye bread (wheat free), or some Canadian bacon (no fat or preservatives or antibiotics). I also like to mix it up and will have oatmeal with agave, half of a grapefruit or some blueberries. I love an espresso, and will have one followed by 16 ounces of water.

Once a week for my health I:

Add a detox day. Since toxins live in our body fat and we want to be less toxic so we look and feel youthful and prevent disease, then we need to stay healthy and lean. Try adding a ‘detox day’ – every Monday, try to eat vegan for the day and have one to two veggie juices so you can balance for some of the fun you had over the weekend.

My food philosophy in one sentence:

I believe if I nourish my cells from the inside it will show on the outside. That’s why my food and beauty philosophy is beauty from the inside out.

Can’t live without my:

Seven hours of sleep a night and my friends and family who constantly make me smile.

Fave workout:

I schedule my daily workouts for 8:30 a.m. after the school run. I’ll do a different sport every day if I can. I mix it up, but no matter what, I do 45 minutes of something a day. I love the outdoors. If I’m by the water, I love to paddle board, surf, swim laps or water ski. I also love to hike or run for about 45 minutes a day. Staying hydrated is so important, and I always have 16 ounces of water during my workout.

My daily supplements:

Simplifying and de-cluttering my life is a big focus for me. I focus on the essentials, which puts me in a strong place. Quality over quantity! I don’t take tons of vitamins and supplements – I only take The Super Elixir.

Hydrate well:

I drink 16 ounces of room-temperature filtered water every day upon waking up. It’s so important to stay hydrated and I aim to have three liters of water a day. In the morning, I add two teaspoons of Super Elixir alkalizing greens and I’m ready to go.

Best fast food option:

The food is delicious and healthy in Miami; I love simple chicken or fish with lots of fresh greens or vegetables.

Best healthy restaurant tip:

Blade at the Fontainbleau for clean sushi – it is like my second home. I love Daylesford in London for breakfast and veg shopping.

At least once a week I cook…

Salmon, like a simple miso-glazed salmon with a great spring salad from one of my favorite Ottolenghi books. (Recipe below.)

If I could give just one piece of health advice it would be...

I’ve learned that an alkaline and PH-neutral body is a healthier body. Many people believe that it combats disease, encourages cellular renewal and therefore is anti-aging. When all of our eleven body systems are nourished well and detoxifying properly, they are in their optimal state. I feel that my body works super efficiently now that I am taking The Super Elixir every day; my workouts are strong, I’ve lost weight around my middle, my moods are balanced, I have less sugar cravings and I just feel on top of my game.

Crazy health idea that actually works:

Switch black pepper for cayenne pepper. It is a fantastic metabolism boost and has a whole host of other health benefits!

5 things always in my medicine cabinet:

Australian Lucas’ Paw Paw cream for dry lips, dry cuticles, scratches and various ailments – especially great to have on hand for the kids – along with an array of bandaids, Betadine and tea tree oil as a natural mosquito-bite remedy.

Non-negotiable:

Move your body for 45 minutes every day! Even if it is just a walk, find the time. Book it in like a business appointment.

Simplest way to improve health:

Water, water, water, can’t say it enough. Throw in your two teaspoons of Super Elixir and you’re ready to go!
