The best workouts leave you feeling confident and ready to take on the world – and surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals can be just the motivation you need to fit fitness into your everyday routine. We’re all about the benefits of group exercise classes, and we know firsthand that the instructor can definitely make or break your experience. That’s why we decided to do the work for you: We’ve not only scoured the scene for our favorite fitness pros, but we’ve asked them to fill us in on their secrets for sweat-proof success…

Chances are, you’ve probably attended (or at least heard of) fusion fitness classes: formats marrying at least two types of workouts to create a unique, synergistic, sweat-inducing hybrid. And leading the pack is Elisabeth Halfpapp, who set a new bar for fitness hybrids by co-creating exhale’s Core Fusion program. Part dance, part pilates, part yoga, and part Lotte Berk method, Core Fusion is now one of the hottest workouts in the country, attracting everyone from the Average Jane to Julia Roberts. We adore Elisabeth for her extraordinary expertise, her fierce passion for all things “fit” and for the way she’s made this revolutionary workout accessible to the masses. Read on to find out how she does it…

Class In Session With the creator of exhale Core Fusion

Name:

Elisabeth Halfpapp

Studio:

exhale Core Fusion

My Specialty:

Core Fusion Barre

Moment I Fell In Love With Fitness...

At the age of five, when I took my first ballet class.

Favorite Class To Take:

Core Fusion Barre and exhale Power Flow yoga

When you leave my class, you feel...

…a relaxed, calm, positive, uplifted energy.

My secret weapon:

Working with precision, position and alignment, thus getting you in the best position to create maximum strength and stretch in minimal time…along with my smile and encouragement to push yourself to your nurturing edge in class!

Go-to workout gear:

Anatomie and Splits59.

In my gym bag:

Core Fusion grippy socks, iPad, Tata Harper tinted lip treatment, KIND Bar Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate, a couple of small quinoa cookies, Bang + Olufsen ear pods, Core Fusion resistance band, Burt’s Bees facial cleansing towelettes (I use them for my hands and face after teaching).

Favorite workout position:

Seated V position balance…this position involves core strength, flexibility, and balance. It’s a triple threat!

Biggest inspiration:

My mom, who escaped East Germany at sixteen years old by herself and always had a positive outlook on life no matter what circumstance. My dad, who has an incredible work ethic even at 77 years old! They both always believed in my career choices and allowed me to follow my dream of ballet and teaching fitness with encouragement every step of the way.

When I'm not in the studio, I'm...

… spending time with my husband, Fred DeVito, who co-created the Core Fusion program with me.

Favorite post-workout fuel:

KIND Bar Peanut Butter + Chocolate – yum!

Favorite Way To hydrate:

I keep it simple: filtered NYC tap water in a glass!

Fave quick workout outside the studio:

Ballet class once or twice a week.

Latest healthy obsession:

Sleeping at least 7-8 hours per night.

Current mantra:

“Inhale energy, exhale tension.”
