14 “Mommy” Blogs To Click On Now

Mommy blogs – or whatever term is okay to use these days – have taken over the web in record numbers over the past few years. Mommy fashionistas, mommy product reviewers, mommies who believe in attachment parenting, mommies who don’t… it can be overwhelming, to say the least, and this is coming from a blogger who is a mommy! I don’t tend to look at them for tips on the latest strollers, nursing advice or baby food recipes (fresh fruit or veggie, steam or mash – really, do we need more than that?) but I do love the ones that inspire me as a parent, the ones that help inject my day with a dose of fun, happiness, creativity or beauty. I find I need that much more than another video monitor review. So here are my favorite blogs made for and/or inspired by motherhood!

  • Our favorite online resources for parents:

  • THE GLOW:

This stunning web site was started by a former InStyle editor in New York who partnered with her amazingly talented photographer friend to document the lives of stylish mothers and their children from a unique, “glowing” perspective.

Click to check out The Glow!

  • BLEUBIRD VINTAGE:

I came across Miss James and her family-focused blog a few months ago and spent hours pouring through it. Her style is country living with a vintage, creative vibe and whether you can relate to that or not, no mother will be immune to her darling stories and photos of her brood. She shares such intimate moments and glimpses into their lives and it really makes you want to be a better, more focused mother.

Click to check out Bleubird Vintage!

  • BUY MODERN BABY:

You know when you found out you were pregnant and you started Googling “chic baby furniture” instantly? You probably came across Esther’s site. She curates the best in modern, deco, contemporary baby and kid finds in one easy-to-navigate web site and blog.

Click to check out Buy Modern Baby!

  • A CUP OF JO:

You probably already know Joanna Goddard, possibly one of the most popular “mommy bloggers” online. But what I love about her most is that she’s hardly just a mom. She covers everything from baby to fashion to travel to makeup to food with a New York-infused perspective and a friendly voice.

Click to check out A Cup Of Jo!

  • INSPIRATION COOPERATIVE:

I had to have a local, LA-area pick in here and Theresa is at the top of my bookmarks list. She’s a mom of two living in Long Beach, trying to infuse not only her life but yours, as well, with visual inspiration, thought-provoking topics and a good chuckle now and then. I often turn to her site on a whim, just to catch up on her latest finds or adventures… and I am always glad I did.

Click here to check out Inspiration Cooperative!

  • Emphasis Added:

Emphasis Added is the online destination for aspirational yet relatable content—this working mom has a toddler and a newborn (a girl named Felix…how cute is that?!) She gives great advice on restaurants, clothing for tykes and regales her readers with fantastic tales of her family’s adventures—usually in a cute pair of heels!

Click here to check out Emphasis Added!

  • Dear Baby:

Melissa from Dear Baby gives us our daily fix of parenting inspiration. Her content ranges from how to throw an all-girls dinner party to the best children's clothing on a budget. The posts we love most are her love letters to her two toddler children plus her honest, realistic advice for a healthy, happy relationship is always welcome, too!

Click here to check out Dear Baby!

  • Rip + Tan:

Jenni Kayne's blog Rip+Tan (named after her adorable kiddos, Tanner and Ripley) isn't exclusively a "mommy blog" but we love her posts on throwing stylish children's parties, non-toxic laundry care and her shopping guides for kids are the ultimate sourcebook for parents looking for the best, healthiest gear and products. Plus, check out her edible garden, which we featured on The Chalkboard!

  • Oh Joy:

Joy isn't just a blogger, she's the ultimate blogger with a new book coming out on the topic, called Blog, Inc. Of course, since having her adorable baby Ruby, her site has amazing kid-friendly content and stories that appeal to moms of every stripe! Plus, she's collaborating with Winter Water Factory on a line of kids clothes—talk about a multi-talented mommy blogger!

  • Lovely Morning:

Lovely Morning is brought to you by Kristina, an amazing graphic designer and founder of the wedding site 100 Layer Cake. While 100 Layer Cake focuses on weddings, her personal blog is geared towards mommyhood. We particularly love her recipes and the design is of course top-notch!

Click here to check out Lovely Morning!

  • Oh Happy Day:

When it comes to DIY sites, there are an ocean out there to chose from but when it comes to how-tos for crafty kids and their activity-loving parents, this is the one for you! Don't miss her decor-centric posts plus the amazing dress up ideas for Halloween (baby Frida Kahlo or Andy Warhol, anyone?!)

  • Camille Styles:

Sometimes in between feedings and laundry duty, it's nice to tune out and this blog is the ultimate espace—think: amazing home and lifestyle inspiration from mom to newborn Phoebe!

Click here to check out Camille Styles!

  • Rockstar Diaries:

This much-loved blogger out of NYC is popular for good reason! We love her take on local food, her genius styling tips for busy women, plus her positive relationship advice is much appreciated on those stressy days!

  • Whoorl:

Check this site out for great beauty and fashion finds from an OC mom of two—motherhood never looked so stylish!

  1. Nice place where we get all our problem solutions. Really a good work keeps sharing your ideas.

  2. Lol really. How about moms that blog for free shit and support rampant consumerism and keeping up with the jones (or goddard williams’, davis’ and kicinski-mccoy’s.) I’m sure miss James ‘ simple living country style is really apparent when she sells out a birth announcement for some free onesies, bags, strollers, stuffed animals, bla bla bla, and cloth diapers that she seemingly never uses. All filler no content. (For real content see designmom, natthefatrat, cakies and there are many more mommy blogs of substance). Not calling out all the blogs you list, but quite a few of them are photo envy blogs not blogs with substance, if we all photographed 10% of all lives and shared the photoshopped and filtered versions of ourselves we’d all be pretty shiny, happy, and warm…
So sick of photo blogs that rely in free things and giveaways to share their picture perfect lives.

    • Thank you for reading A and we appreciate you sharing your comments with us. If you have an alternate list of blogs for parents that you approve of and read, feel free to send it to us at Hello@thechalkboardmag.com and we’d be happy to share it with our readers. We love healthy discourse and discussion and we thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts with us.

    • A, your comment is spot on! I love reading a good blog with gorgeous pictures of fairy-tale outings and DIY inspiration now and then, but I prefer mommy bloggers who keep it real. These ladies are beautiful and so are their families, yet their posts seem so contrived much of the time that it’s hard to relate to them.

  3. I think your write up for Rockstar Diaries was intended for another blog. RD doesn’t talk about healthy local food (quite the opposite – burgers, fries, shakes, cupcakes), nor does it provide styling or relationship advice. RD is basically a catalogue in the guise of a family photo album.

    • Thanks for reading M. She does cover local food—everyone is entitled to their opinion and we appreciate you sharing yours with us and are glad you are reading.

  4. Some of these blogs are GREAT while others are not so great. I believe you’re forgetting these gems:

    A Merry Mishap
    Adventures in Pink Sugarland
    Angela Hardison
    Che and Fidel
    Lay Baby Lay
    Of Anselm
    Petite Biet
    Pencil Box
    The Daybook
    We Three Pilgrims

    • Thanks so much for these recommendations we’ll definitely check them out!

  5. Yes, RD discuses local. Glad you removed the “healthy”.

    • Thanks for reading and we appreciate your feedback. If you have any recommendations you love feel free to pass them on you never know when Part II of our favorite “mommy blogs” will make an appearance on the site and we love to have our readers contribute their favorites, too.

  6. So glad that Emphasis Added is on this list. The most genuine out there! I remember before her first daughter as born she focused on decorating a nursery that would be used for learning. I love that and love that raising smart, grounded girls seems to be her main focus.

  7. I have to agree with some of the other comments here – although I think this topic is subjective. 🙂 In my opinion, several blogs listed are really great, stellar writing and content. The rest, IMO, not so much. For me, I’m looking for substance over “stuff”; that stuff being photos, promos, giveaways and so on. I did a blog post several months ago covering who I believed to be the top new mom bloggers. Each blogger on the list is brewing with substance – whether that be sarcasm, humor, empathy, a great cause, etc. But there are all different types of mom bloggers out there, so what is considered relevant and great by one, may not appeal to another.

    • Thanks for your comment Crystal! Yes, it seems mommies are looking for different things in the blogosphere! Some, like our friend Raluca of What Would Gweneth Do, seem to love the light and inspirational, while others appreciate in-depth and informative! Good thing there is room for all…

  8. Great list. Just wanted to share that Rockstar Diaries is based out of Washington, DC not NYC. Naomi and her husband went to college in NYC.

  9. Ahhhh thank you!!! Some fabulous weekend reading for me! Enjoy your day. Amy x

  10. What’s interesting to me as a marketer – when searching some of these gals for some projects I have in the works – their websites offered many social channels (Twitter, Instagram) but some weren’t on Facebook. And one…didn’t even have an RSS feed. Odd.

  11. Some of these were already on my bookmark – and the other’s have now been added. Thanks for the curated list of stylish and inspiring Mommy Blogs (these blogs prove being a stylish mommy blogger is not an oxy-moron)!
    Thank you!

  12. Hi! Loved your list and will check them out! I wanted to introduce myself and my new lifestyle website dandelion moms. The essence of which is to remind moms to slow down and enjoy the journey as it goes by so quickly! And to inspire women to go after their dreams! We recently started the dandelion moms project kindness to spread kindness and loveliness! Would love to talk more about the project with you

    Thanks again for the post!
