Cancel your Sunday afternoon plans and make a date to head over to the Garden School Foundation’s 24th Street Learning Center for this year’s Harvest Moon Party! Stroll through the school’s bountiful garden, feast on delicious eats served up by some of the city’s best restaurants (including TCM faves Clementine, Canele, Little Dom’s, Heirloom LA, A-Frame, Cook’s County and SQIRL), and celebrate the passion behind one of LA’s most empowering, influential eco-conscious institutions!
It’s no surprise that we are huge proponents of edible classrooms and garden-based education. Growing, cooking and eating together not only helps foster food literacy in children, but encourages kids to take health into their own hands at a young age. These educational gardens also provide safe green spaces for kids that don’t always have access to parks, and give them a fun place to get off the couch and get their green thumbs dirty! We were thrilled to hear that Garden School Foundation is not only expanding to serve four more schools in under-served Los Angeles neighborhoods, but has also just published their Seed To Table curriculum: 160 lessons that tie the garden to the classroom via math, science, language, arts, cooking and nutrition. We can’t think of a better reason to hop on over to the 24th Street School garden this weekend!
Tickets for the event are available below. Join us as we support hundreds of kids in getting healthier, smarter and more active! Here’s what you need to know…
