You know what they say about birds of a feather, especially the beauty-minded flock. We love to shop our own Green Goddess Guides when we’re ready to hoard new products and Alexis Wolfer has plenty of inspo to provide.
Alexis, founder of The Beauty Bean – a no-nonsense wellness and beauty hub – Alexis shares our passion for getting gorgeous as naturally as possible (coconut oil and water cures all!). We also see eye to eye on some weirder beauty proclivities – putting food on our faces and splurging on pearl powder smoothie included.
From travel beauty hacks to makeup brushes that might just change your life (but, really), read on to learn what products and primping routines this Green Goddess is loving now…
Can’t travel without…
Bucky Eye Shades, ear plugs, Fig+Yarrow Complexion Water, an all-purpose balm (recently I’ve been obsessed with Everbelle’s Ultimate Multi-Purpose Balm) and my 25-ounce Swell water bottle (because otherwise this girl spends a billion dollars on bottled water – and breaks Mother Earth’s heart!)
In a pinch I…
Exfoliate my face with a packet of white sugar swiped from a local coffee shop.
Always in my evening clutch:
I travel light, but I always have an organic lip balm on hand!
Obsession of the moment:
Odacite Spring In Tokyo Facial Serum! Damn, it smells divine – and makes my skin feel fabulous!
Beautifying snack/meal:
An avocado (halved and pitted) topped with raw hempseeds and Himalayan pink sea salt.
Beautifying drink:
Nothing beats water! Especially high pH alkaline water! Oh, and a sprinkle of pearl powder in smoothies too!
For ultra-glamorous effect:
Warm an eyelash curler before use for mega-curling action!
Perfect pout:
Make this DIY lip scrub.
Beauty tool:
Suqqu brushes! So expensive, but so luxurious – and you’ll literally have them forever.
Weirdest beauty habit:
I put under-eye masks on when I board an airplane and take them off upon landing. I may look weird while in the air (and anyone I’m traveling with me is mortified to be with me), but I’m the only one that looks well-rested post-red-eye, making it well worth it!
In the shower I keep…
Dr. Bronner’s Organic Rose Bar Soap in a mesh bag that helps it lather!
On my bedside table…
A glass of water, coconut oil, a book, my phone, and bowls full of whatever jewelry I’ve worn over the last two weeks, which I’m terrible about putting away and organizing!
Once a month I…
Try to get a facial at Carasoin in Beverly Hills – they have the best organic facials! – although the operative word here is “try” since it’s often more like every 3 months!
After a rough weekend…
Leave the past behind you and start fresh! Feeling guilty about the late-night pizza and four-too-many glasses of wine doesn’t help any. Just drink lots of water, eat some green things, and get your body moving.
On little sleep I rely on…
Lots of water (and coffee, of course!).
The product that changed my skin…
Coconut oil! I use it for everything!
Most treasured beauty tip…
Use full-fat Greek yogurt as a blemish-busting spot treatment. Apply enough to cover, let dry, and rinse off to immediately reduce redness and inflammation, balance bacteria, and loosen the sebum and skin cells clogging the pore.
For glowing skin…
I drink at least a gallon of water every day, eat loads of healthy fats and break a sweat daily.
My go-to DIY recipe or smoothie recipe:
This Aztec clay DIY mask – it’s detoxifying, hydrating, exfoliating and great for all skin types!
