If, in some unexplained cosmic collision, the 1970’s smashed into 2025, the results would look something like this small shop on West 3rd Street in LA. Chay, filled with some of our favorite artisans, whose esthetic, we believe, is best described in our hypothetical time warp situation, is the ideal spot for a little summer home and closet update. Think incredible knits by Ryan Roche, artisan-made brass arm candy, and timeless home goods from Sweden’s Skultuna.

Whether we’re on the hunt for the perfect gift or simply looking to immerse ourselves in pure loveliness for a moment, shops like Chay provide us with that perfectly-curated immersion therapy we’re looking for. Owner, Chay Wike, has fit her world-traveling ways onto her shelves along with hints of her South African rocker parent’s roots. We love the shop’s vibe and asked Chay to share a few insights about life between it’s walls…

The shop in three words:

Natural, timeless and curated.

Brands you carry:

CHAY, Ryan Roche, Le Feu De L’Eau, Skultana, Lue, Native Line, Fort Standard, Paris Review, and Martiniano. Coming this fall: Maryam Nassir Zadeh and Reinhard Plank.

Recent obsessions:

Hydrosols! I love floral waters and drink them as a tonic. Half a teaspoon diluted in mineral water and served in a wine glass is a lovely non-alcoholic cocktail.

Our customer is…

Ageless. We truly have a wide range of people that come in.

Go-to shop uniform:

T-shirt dress and silk jumpsuit – year round.

Perfect gift for the season?

Shiva Rose – Rose Face Oil and Ryan Roche hat.

We’re always drinking…

Tea!! I sip a variety throughout the day and will be launching my own collection in the fall.

Always stashed (snacks etc):

Tea, almonds, and Elemental Superfood bars and crumble.

Always playing:

Talking Heads, hip hop and ’70s rock.

Candle always burning:

Nearby hotspots:

Osteria Mozza and Olympic Spa!

Go-to spot for lunch nearby:

Erewhon, Sycamore Kitchen and Sugar Fish.
