Name:
Sadie Lincoln
Studio:
barre3 studios (72 and counting!) and online classes at barre3.com
My Specialty:
Empowering people to make each workout their own by learning modifications (both up and down). I love helping clients learn how to tap into their own body wisdom and honor what is right for them in the moment. Some days you need a hard sweat session to burn off steam. Other days you need to be grounded and find ease in your workout to relieve stress. Plus, we all have injuries, aches and pains. With smart modifications you really can get a challenging workout that is pain free.
Favorite Class To Teach:
barre3!
Favorite class to take:
Shameless self promotion but it’s the truth: barre3 (My second favorite class is yoga with meditation included.)
Moment I fell in love with fitness
Jane Fonda Workout video with my mom in our living room circa 1983.
When you leave my class, you feel...
Balanced.
My secret weapon:
Laughing at myself and being honest. I am not a fitness super hero and I think clients appreciate that I am honest about it, and that I don’t take myself too seriously.
Go-to workout gear:
I love my grey cotton barre3 tanks with bright Alo capris. I am also digging the Nike studio wraps.
In my gym bag:
I always have a few things to freshen up so I can go from studio to street. I’m obsessed with this new natural deodorant by Schmidt’s and I always have Yes To Cucumber wipes on hand along with lip and cheek tint and dry shampoo. I usually have a long tunic and scarf as well that I can throw over my capris for an easy outfit.
Favorite workout pose or technique:
My favorite posture is the one we always start and end class with. We call it primary posture. In the yoga world it is called Tadasana or Mountain pose. Basically it is standing tall, proud, and balanced. This is my goal.
Biggest inspiration:
My kids.
When I'm not in the studio, I'm...
At home. I am a total homebody.
Favorite post-workout fuel:
Leftover smoothie from breakfast. My favorite these days is our leafy smoothie. I have a ton of smoothies from the chefs I work with locally here in Portland. They are all a balance of greens for fiber and antioxidants, with protein and healthy fats. This mixture helps balance blood sugar levels, which helps keep my energy up after a good workout.
Favorite way to hydrate:
I remind myself to stay hydrated by placing four rubber bands on my water bottle. Each time I fill it, I take the rubber band off. Goal is to have them all off by the end of the day. I add fresh lemon wedges to make the water more interesting.
Fave quick workout:
Riding my bike. I just taught my dog to jog alongside my bike. We have fun jaunts through our neighborhood together.
Latest healthy obsession:
Homemade nut butter. I have a recipe that is to die for! It is a major hit at my house and with my team at barre3. My finance manager just shared it with us. It is loaded with protein, healthy fat and fiber and I swear it is as good as candy.
Current Mantra:
Work smarter, not harder.
barre3 Homemade Nut Butter
Makes approx. 1 ½ cups
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups of any nuts or seeds (we like this mixture: ½ cup raw almonds, ½ cup raw cashews, ¼ cup raw pecans, ¼ cup raw sunflower seeds)
¾ cups shredded coconut
6 Tbsp. cocoa nibs
2 Tbsp. honey
¼ cup of any nut or seed oil, like walnut oil or almond oil
Directions:
Add all ingredients to a food processor to combine and blend. You’re looking for a nut butter consistency. Add more oil if it’s too dry. Easy!
