As the founder of Rawfully Organic – the largest raw, organic produce cooperative in the U.S. – she’s making organic produce affordable for all in her community. Starting with just twelve members in 2007, Kristina has grown the co-op to over 15,000 families in the greater Houston area, democratizing access to organic produce and providing health education in her community in the process – all without taking any profit. The best foods are grown in nature without a label.

Orange Spinach Basil Smoothie (see below)

Orange Spinach Basil Smoothie


1 pint of fresh-squeezed orange juice
1 cup fresh spinach
1/2 to 1 cup of fresh basil or cilantro


Throw into a blender and spin on high until smooth.

I don’t know how she finds the time to do all that she does and still be there to give everyone hugs at the co-op three times a week.   2. I am really into everything Kristian stands for, she’s a wonderful inspiration BUT her life style is very hard to follow if you’re on a tight budget. She also only seems to give her co-op as her go to which is great for people who live in Texas! I wish she would have given better tips for normal people… But happy to see a raw vegan in the spotlight!

  3. What I would love to know is how a working (9-6, getting home at 7pm) woman who lives in a poor suburb of London, UK with only access to a local Tesco is supposed to eat like this? I have no time or energy. I’ve tried to go vegan and followed exact raw vegan recipes online for a balanced diet and almost passed out in a board meeting.

    I want to do this but I need some practical advice.

    • Hey Ashley – maybe you should try low fat, high carb, cooked vegan foods – things like beans, lentils, loads of rice, breads and fruits and veggies. If you’re looking for videos, check out Freelee – not everybody warms to her personality, but she’s very educational and a lot more real than Kristina.

      Also, all the recipes on my website are vegan and not crazy – we’re hanging out at Avocado Please.

    • If you almost passed out than you need more calories and healthy fats. Nut butters (they can be raw), whole nuts, bananas, dates, seeds, and coconut are all great calorie laden/filling foods to supplement the salads and fruits you should be eating as well. You don’t need a specialty, all vegan grocery store to get all of your essentials for a well balanced diet, just eat more!
