When converting to a clean beauty routine, half the battle is knowing where to start. For TCM contributor and nutritionist Kelly LeVeque, that process was made much easier by celeb client Jessica Alba of the Honest Company.
Once Kelly decided to go green, the holistic health pro and best-selling author (her new book is a must-buy!) turned to Alba for a clean beauty makeover and discovered a few new faves that are 100% TCM editor-approved…
When I decided to clean up my beauty routine, making the makeup swap was simple because of two people: Jessica Alba and Amanda Jo of Organic Bunny. First, Amanda DMed me and offered to help me clean up my makeup act and matched my skin tone via photo. She sent me products from a store called Citrine Natural Beauty Bar — think Sephora for green beauty in Scottsdale, Arizona. It really helped to have suggestions from an expert; I tried Kajer Weis, ILIA and a gel-based mascara called Per-Fekt.
Since meeting Amanda, I feel like the resources are endless with more specialty green beauty stores like Citrine popping up everywhere, like Credo Beauty, Detox Market, Lemon Laine Nashville and my friend Larissa’s new store Onda Beauty in NYC. If you don’t live in an area with these resources, there are subscription boxes that help you try these products at an affordable rate, like the Honest Beauty Bundle, The Detox Box or the Organic Bunny Box.
Jessica really pulled it all together for me! After a special nutrition session, she offered to give me a makeover and gifted me the products she used from her Honest Beauty line. I fell in love with the Concealer Duo, Everything Cream foundation and Contour + Highlight kit; it’s phenomenal coverage for natural makeup and it never melted off my face. I started wearing face makeup consistently and, to this day, get compliments on my fresh look daily.
