This DIY lip scrub from L.A. blogger, Lauren Gores Ireland, comes together as quickly as a a morning smoothie – and uses many of the same ingredients. If you’re committed to a cleaner beauty routine, DIY is a fun way to ensure the products and their components are 100% safe. Why not whip up this DIY in the A.M. and pop the other half of that banana into the blender with some greens?
Winter can be tough on our beauty routine: dry hair, dead skin, chapped lips. Our bodies certainly deserve some extra pampering come January.
I’ve been experimenting with a DIY lip scrub that’s effective (and delicious!) while super quick to create. Every ingredient comes straight from your kitchen! I’m six months pregnant, so I’ve opted for a lot more at-home beauty products to ensure they’re extra safe for my baby. This scrub is a favorite on my list.
Coconut + Brown Sugar DIY Lip Scrub
ingredients:
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp coconut oil
1 drop vanilla extract
1 Tbsp plain yogurt
1 tsp honey
1 tsp fresh lime juice
½ banana
directions:
Blend 1 tablespoon brown sugar and all other ingredients in a blender until smooth, then pour into a bowl.
Stir in the remaining tablespoon of brown sugar so the mixture remains grainy.
Apply a teaspoon of the mixture over your lips and scrub for 30 seconds.
Rinse with warm water and follow up with lip balm. Keep remaining mixture refrigerated and use within two days.
Note: The mixture is a little runny, so apply, scrub and rinse over your sink.
