What if by sharing with each other this holiday season, you could share with those in need? That’s exactly what one of our favorite charities, FEED, is doing this December. The socially conscious company founded by Lauren Bush Lauren does more than just sell lust-worthy bags and apparel – they give meals on a global level to those who would go hungry otherwise. This holiday, FEEDprojects is bringing together A-list supporters including Karlie Kloss, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, and Chrissy Teigen to help end world hunger with the FEEDtogether campaign. Their FEED bags and accessories will provide 7,590 meals and micronutrients – and with our collective power, we can help FEED give even more.
Recently, our December guest, designer Jenni Kayne hosted a dinner that brought together visionaries and supporters in the spirit of giving to honor FEED together. With delicious food, inspiring conversation, and the kind of jaw-dropping decor we’ve come to associate with a gathering at Jenni’s, the evening was the perfect way to kick off a whole season dedicated to giving back. I recently had the pleasure of hosting a wonderful dinner for an equally wonderful cause – an evening of coming together to help end world hunger, and in support of an organization working to do just that. With a mission to create good products that help feed the world, FEED does so through the sale of bags, accessories, and apparel by building a set donation into the cost of each product. And with the holidays upon us, it was the perfect opportunity to share the message that giving these products as gifts can also give meals to children and families in need around the world. Here are a few style details from our gathering…
Cozy Decor From Near And Far
The Tabletop
To set the scene, I framed the table with classic chairs from local favorite Found Rentals, and used beautiful Maasai Blankets, borrowed from my friend’s travels, as the festive tablecloths. On top, I used my Heath pasta bowls in Opaque White, my mismatched antique flatware, and Acme Seagrass Tumblers, available at my Montecito store. And lastly, I used some of my free trade Creative Women napkins, available at my West Hollywood store, secured with colorful Maasai bangles as napkin rings, and scattered multicolored and black and white striped MQuan candleholders, also from my home store, across the table.
The Flowers
For our dinner, the amazing Kristen Caisse of Moon Canyon Design created an assortment of arrangements rich in texture and pattern. Included in the gorgeous displays: banksia protea, seeded eucalyptus, spotted tropical foliage, amaryllis, white thistle, tillandsia, fern, dried lotus pods, umbrella fern and anthurium, which she placed in woven baskets with rimmed white ceramic beads from Pierre Lafond in Santa Barbara, and Ani Kasten ceramic vases from Heath.
A Fall Menu – Get The Recipes
The dinner that accompanied our evening of coming together helped to make it all the more memorable, and came courtesy of the lovely and talented Barrett of Valleybrink Road.
The incredibly delicious menu for the evening included Roasted Kabocha Squash with Dates, a Cannellini Bean Salad with Parsley, Mint, and Lemon, and a finish of Whipped Ricotta with Figs, Mint, and Honey. Needless to say, everything was amazing, but the Roasted Squash and Ricotta and Fig dishes were my favorites. The entire evening was a beautiful and inspirational one, and I was so happy to be a part of it. For more details on how you can make a significant impact, simply by giving a gift, be sure to visit feedprojects.com.
