Chalait’s sweet and simple shop esthetic lives well in their West Village neighborhood and their menu is killing us: miso butter avocado toast, matcha chocolate bars studded with goji berries and rose petals, and salads tossed in this fresh matcha-carrot-ginger dressing that’s so good we want to bathe in it.

Chalait’s Matcha Carrot Dressing


1 cup vegetable oil
½ cup rice vinegar
¼ cup soy sauce
1 Tbsp sugar
2 tsp grated ginger
2 medium carrots
½ cup chopped yellow onion
salt and pepper to taste
matcha to taste (we use 2 tsp)


Simply combine all the ingredients in a blender and process until the mixture is smooth and well incorporated. You can toss the dressing with any lettuce leaves or salad or even spread it on a sandwich or wrap.
