New York Fashion Week is in full swing. The iconic blitz of shows — and all the hubbub that surrounds it — is known for its intensity as much as its glamour. This year, we’ve taken note of a few designers who are upping the wellness game of their backstage experiences, as well as those who are taking a visible lead in non-toxic beauty. There’s more wellness happening behind the scenes than ever before at NYFW 2019 — here are a few moments we’ve loved, including a look from iconic beauty gurus, Gucci Westman and Tata Harper…
Herbal Supplements + Functional Fragrances | The Nue Co. joined forces with Ulla Johnson for their SS20 show to help center and relax models before their debut. To set the tone for NYFW 2019, The Nue Co. provided models with their functional fragrance (our favorite!) designed to reduce stress and lift the mood throughout the backstage area. The Nue Co.’s non-toxic scent contains soothing notes of palo santo, green cardamom, iris and cilantro – all of which have been clinically proven to help calm nerves and ease anxiety.
The models and staff were also treated to mini chair massages and offered a dose of the brand’s nootropic supplement, Nootro-Focus to help provide clarity and focus.
Plant-Based Meals + snacks | Currently trending at NYFW 2019? Nutrient-dense, plant-based food for a body that looks and feels amazing. Designer Jeremy Scott treated models to meals provided by Sakara Life, our favorite plant-based meal delivery service. Sakara dished out custom dishes just for the show, from crazy delicious and perfectly balanced soba bowls to salads and vegan coconut strawberry shortcake cups.
clean Backstage Beauty | Over at Khaite’s gorgeous SS20 show, makeup artist Gucci Westman created a fresh, dewy look using Tata Harper product to showcase the models’ natural beauty. Here’s a rundown of the routine that’s totally clean and easy enough to replicate at home…
Hydrate. First, apply the Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence to the plump and moisturize the skin. Following the essence, use the Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Mask as a moisturizer for a long-lasting, fresh out of the shower effect.
Brighten. Next, apply the Tata Harper Elixir Vitae and Elixir Vitae Eye Serum and Illuminating Moisturizer to plump the skin. For the body, apply the Tata Harper Revitalizing Body Oil to hydrate the skin and provide a long-lasting glow with what Gucci calls “a rawness and all-over sheen”.
Highlight. To create the ‘lit-from-within’ effect, Gucci used her own Westman Atelier Lit Up Highlighter Stick on top of cheekbones and the inner corners of the eyes, with her Vital Skin Foundation Stick where needed.
Contour. Next, gently contour cheeks and nose with the Face Trace Contour Stick, to add a soft and slight definition to the face. Depending on skin shade (Petal for lighter shades and Dou Dou for darker), apply Baby Cheeks Blush Stick to the bridge of the nose and under the cheek, for that natural ‘ran-up-the-stairs’ flush.
Brows. Eyebrows are left as natural as possible, only filled in slightly with an angled brow brush, as for lashes – leave natural.
Faux Freckles. To complete the look, add a few faux freckles with a brow pencil and apply Lit Up Highlighter Stick to the tops of lips, with Baby Cheeks in Dou Dou pressed all over using fingers.
Finishing Touch. To finish, spray the Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence to set makeup.
