The best workouts have one thing in common: a trainer that gets us going. Former Broadway dancer and Rockette, Amanda Kloots has an energy that makes us want to move. Her body-burning workouts have us hooked, but it’s her bubbly personality that keeps us coming back for more.

Amanda’s classes — The Rope and The Dance — are a combo of dance cardio, strength building and jump roping. Form is key but fun is everything. Each time we try one of her signature workouts, we leaving sore, buzzing and empowered. What more could we want?

We asked Amanda to participate in one of our fave series, ‘In My Gym Bag‘, and her answers have us antsy to get to the studio stat! Peek below to learn this glowy pro’s tricks for getting pumped and her ideal workout wardrobe (which we need)…

Moment I fell in love with fitness:

I have always loved fitness, but when I started teaching fitness I fell in love!

For motivation:

Music – and my clients motivate me! I love walking into my class seeing everyone getting ready and excited to work out. It truly gets me going! I don’t want to let anyone down so I become super excited to lead class. Once those tunes come on, I am on a high for the next 55 minutes!

5 things always in my gym bag:

Fave workout outfits:

I love workout outfits and, luckily, I work at Bandier so I am always inspired. I really love Ultracor, Heroine Sport, Upside, Terez and Beyond Yoga. I also love a great sweatpants and comfy sweatshirt, so I cannot live without Monrow!

Most exciting thing in fitness now:

I love that you can literally find any kind of class your heart desires! It is so cool that fitness has become such a trend inspiring people to create all different kinds of classes!

On my workout playlist…

Coldplay, Beyonce, Chance the Rapper, Cash Cash, Bruno Mars, Little Mix, Lorde… basically the Top 40!

A jump rope! You can do it anywhere and bring it anywhere!

Most unexpected item in my gym bag:

My Sakara meal! I am usually transporting pancakes, waffles or an incredible salad so that I have food with me on my long days!

I know I’ve had a good workout when:

I like to sweat so if I have a good sweat on, I feel pretty good!

Fave outdoor fitness activity:

Does lying on a beach count?

Braids, hat or pony?

I pretty much live in boxer braids!

Gym to street tips:

I am obsessed with Glam & Go! They do the best blowouts in 15 minutes!

Current mantra:

Think positive!
