The 5 Best Hand Treatments For Engagement Season

We can’t stop the clock when it comes to aging, but with a little TLC we can help to delay it’s effects by keeping  our skin in top-top shape! We’re taking notes from beauty blogger, Annie Atkinson of She’s in the Glow, on one of the most neglected parts of our bodies – our hands. Learn how to easily hydrate and protect your paws whether you’re getting ready for a sparkly new accessory or not!

Your hands are the first part of your body to show serious signs of aging, and it’s a problem that can start as early as your mid-20s. I’m talking dry, cracked skin, sunspots, and skin that doesn’t bounce back when you pinch it. Yikes, right? Most people don’t recognize signs of aging on their hands until their 30’s or 40’s, and most won’t start changing their routines until these signals get worse – when it’s almost too late.

For those not interested in getting a ”hand lift,” a 5-to-10-minute cosmetic procedure that costs about $1,200, there are other solutions. It’s really all about treating your hands with the same thought and care as you do your face. Just like you moisturize, protect and treat your face, your hands should be treated with hydrating ingredients that work to keep the skin healthy and youthful.

This is your guide to getting your pretty paws softer and more supple and younger looking than ever before.

The 5 Best Hand Treatments For Engagement Season

Moisturize | Keep your hands super hydrated day and night. This might seem obvious, but it’s worth the mention. Keep a jar of heavy hand balm or cream next to your bed and apply generously before you fall asleep. Nighttime is when your skin truly regenerates, so take advantage of the time while you sleep. Shiffa Healing Balm is super potent and contains a rich blend of oils and herbal extracts that nourish even the deepest layers of skin.

Plump | During the day, make sure to keep something light and non-sticky on your desk and in your handbag (because there is nothing more annoying than sticky fingers while typing away at the computer). Chantecaille’s Retinol Hand Cream is a next-level hand treatment specifically geared to plump and soften this skin. The first ingredient is Rosa Damascena flower water, so as your can imagine, it smells heavenly. Just make sure you avoid sun exposure when using this cream because it does contain retinol.

Protect | It’s never too early to start SPFing your hands. If you apply SPF to your face on a daily basis, make it a habit of apply it to the backs of your hands as well. You might even want to carry a little SPF in your bag, if you’re outside regularly. If you are getting a gel manicure, always apply sunscreen before going under the UV lights. Try Eve Lom Daily Protection. It’s light, portable and packed with SPF 50 – boom!

The At-Home Hand Mask

Supplies:

Tata Harper’s Resurfacing Mask, or mask of choice
2 small Ziplock bags (sandwich size)
hand cream

Directions:

Cleanse your hands and apply a thick layer of mask to the front and backs of the hands.

Next, carefully put your hands inside bags and leave for 20 to 30 minutes (10 minutes is recommended for sensitive skin).

The mask will work with or without the zip lock bags, but this just prevents messiness.

Rinse thoroughly with warm water and follow-up with a lush cream like Tata Harper’s Rejuvenating Hand Cream. The formula contains peptides and hyaluronic acid that plumps and soothes the hands (it also dries instantly, which is a huge plus).

  1. Dear Chalkboard,

While I think taking care of your hands is an interesting story I’m rather disappointed at your choice of products. As a wellness site always promoting healthy choices in the way we eat and take care of ourselves a few of these products contain questionable ingredients that cause harm to the body and the environment. Please stop perpetuating the confusion by promoting healthy beauty and living and then adding products like Eve Lom and Chantecaille to the mix. I’ve noticed a lot of this lately by a few wellness sites and even goop who now have their own site. It needs to stop. Your site could use some refreshing and transparency on this issue. Thank you.

    A loyal reader,
    Erin

  2. I agree with Erin. Just read an article about getting rid of toxins in our households and now i am seeing Eve Lom’s cream that is full of parabens between recommended brands. Very confusing..

  3. You Post is good for promoting healthy products for customer. But as per my thought natural Ayurvedic product is very useful better then using this product. Always keep transparency between you and customers.
