Here’s nutritionist Lauren Felts breaking down the deets…

Featuring fresh-pressed fruits, vegetables, roots and herbs, Pressed Juicery shots are a concentration of liquid nutrition – like your normal glass of juice, but far more dense.

Juice shots are designed to deliver therapeutic nutrients into body, targeting specific health ailments or goals. Feeling the afternoon slumps? Grab an energizing one. Need to nip that cold in the bud? Look for an immune-boosting one. The best part is that juice shots are quite versatile, so even if it’s marketed for one condition, it can help so many others, too.

We’ve been guzzling down the Wellness Shot and the Vitality Shot – both simple but effective, they tackle a laundry list of conditions while also providing that much needed health boost. Both offer some serious benefits in their own right, but let’s take a closer look at the ingredients to uncover just what those might be:

The Pressed Juicery Wellness Shot

Ginger

This root is famous for its ability to calm the digestive tract, reducing gas, indigestion, nausea, pain, loss of appetite and motion sickness. It is also found to be an effective antioxidant, preventing against disease, as well as an anti-inflammatory agent. Studies have shown its ability to reduce pain in inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, offering relief to joints, while also lowering the risk for ovarian and colon cancer. Ginger may also help to clear the sinuses, acting as a useful decongestant for the nose and throat.

Cayenne

Cayenne peppers have a high concentration of capsaicin, the substance that causes their fiery hot sensation and their multitude of health benefits. Capsaicin is a powerful pain-reliever, reducing pain in numerous conditions including those that include the nerves and muscles. It may also offer relief for psoriasis, shingles, cluster headaches, migraines, and arthritic pain. Cayenne has also shown to suppress the appetite while stimulating metabolism, increasing calories burned and therefore aiding in weight loss. It increases circulation, reduces cholesterol and triglycerides, and prevents blood clots from damaging your precious cardiovascular system.

Lemon

At this point, lemon juice is virtually synonymous with wellness and immunity. In addition to its anti-cancer and alkalizing effects, lemons show antibiotic activity, and are an extremely rich source of vitamin C. Vitamin C is the premier vitamin for immune function, and for protecting the body against damage – meaning it’s your greatest ally when you’re coming down with the sniffles.

Turmeric

Turmeric is a popular spice found in Indian cuisine whose benefits come from its compound called curcumin. Curcumin has been proven in countless research studies to provide powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. It may prevent Alzheimer’s disease and alleviate symptoms of arthritis while protecting the brain and improving the immune response. It is suggested that turmeric may even be comparable to pharmaceuticals for its effectiveness against cancers, specifically of the colon, breast, esophagus, oral cavity, prostate and liver. It also protects cells from damage and supports the detoxification processes.

Lemon

Yep, lemon is in this juice shot, too – and for good reason. Lemon is a master alkalizer, bringing oxygen to the body system while neutralizing harmful acidity that can spring up after a day or night of partying too hard. By encouraging an alkaline state, lemon helps ward of disease, harmful bacteria and fungus, and improves the overall wellness of the body’s systems.

Coconut Water

Coconut water is nature’s sport’s drink, highly concentrated with five electrolytes that are known to support rapid hydration: sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium and phosphorus. Each serving contains more potassium than a banana, and has a unique chemical composition of sugars, vitamins, minerals, amino acids and cytokinines – which have shown anti-aging and anti-cancer effects in research studies. Coconut water is the easiest way to boost energy, banish fatigue, support healthy muscle contraction and relaxation, promote normal bowels and mood, and to ease anxiety and stress. Coconut water also contains natural antimicrobial properties, helping to fight off bacteria. Due to its high mineral content, it also supports healthy bones and cardiovascular function.
