Welcome to stationary heaven, where glowing to-do lists and perfect wedding invitations are born and, we can only assume, the sweetest love notes and most respectable thank you cards might possibly go to retire. Chelsea Shukov and Jamie Grobecker are the adorable founders of Sugar Paper, LA’s premiere paper goods shop and custom letterpress stationary creators. Stuffed to the brim with desk and mailbox goodies worth swooning over, Sugar Paper is one of our, well, sweetest neighbors – their Brentwood shop just a stone’s throw from the original Pressed Juicery location. With the time and again approval of Martha Stewart and celebrity fans galore, we knew we wern’t the only ones drooling over these divine papetiers.

We stepped inside Sugar’s dreamy studios this month to share a glimpse behind-the-scenes with the women who make our desktops and mailboxes pretty as can be. What we found exceeded out wildest stationary dreams: vintage printing presses, chalkboard walls, light-filled spaces filled with custom stationary (for a few celebrities whose names we recognized) and more golden stripes and polka-dots than we could count. The office’s inspiration boards themselves warrant a second feature and we’re saving details of Sugar’s inspiration board amazing-ness for a whole other story from Chelsea and Jamie.

For now, enjoy a glimpse in at a morning with the ladies as they respond to our morning questionnaire and smile for the Chalkboard cameras. Catch a glimpse of their new capsule collection for Target stores too!

At 10:00 am we are usually:

At work checking emails and getting the day started.

Daily necessity:

Chelsea: Coffee.
Jamie: Coffee. Did we say coffee yet?

Soundtrack in the studio:

We’re both obsessed with the French Café station on Pandora.

Favorite object on my desk:

Chelsea: The Sugar Paper “Kate” desk calendar.
Jamie: Pictures of my daughter, Kate.

To get the creative juices flowing we…

Get out of the studio and explore the City of Angels.

Our top distraction is:

One another! Sometimes we make each other late talking on the phone before work.

My favorite current project is:

Chelsea: The line of calendars and planners we designed for Target.
Jamie: The custom letterpress stationery collaboration we’re doing with Mark + Graham, a Williams-Sonoma company.

My favorite paper goods:

Chelsea: Our black and white bow note cards are some of my favorites.
Jamie: I love our new polka dot journals.

Most common visitors:

Friends and clients often pop in to say hello!

The snack we always keep on hand:

Pressed Juicery’s Greens 2 – our favorite.

Books always in studio:

Pantone Color Guides.

Favorite way to spend the lunch hour:

What lunch hour?  We tend to work through lunch…

Favorite design neighbors:

Audrey at Urbanic Paper Boutique is a friend and we share a love for all things paper.

Easiest way to brighten up the space is:

Art. Colorful prints fill our studio.

Organizational item I can’t live without:

Our Sugar Paper to-do lists.

Favorite morning of the week:

Chelsea: Friday mornings – I spend the day with my kiddos.
Jamie: Sunday. Sunday is all about my family.

My necessary extravagance is:

Chelsea: Pink champagne.  I love the one they serve at FarmShop in the Brentwood Country Mart.
Jamie:  Facials at Kate Sommerville.
