Finding the perfect tee used to be exasperating. Until we met Lauren Alexander, designer and co-founder of LNA. The quest for the perfect version of this wardrobe basic led her and her partner to set up shop. Since then, some of the best bodies in Hollywood (um, hi, Ryan Gosling. What up, Kate Moss?) have been spotted in LNA T-shirts and clothing. We love that her pieces are just loose enough to be comfortable and just revealing enough to be subtly sexy.

We’re fascinated with the woman who’s mastered the art of designing “I woke up this way” clothing, so we asked Lauren what her mornings look like. Here’s what she had to say…

My alarm is set for…

7:23 a.m. (My two favorite numbers are 7 and 23. I’m very superstitious.)

I can’t start my morning without…

Good music and coffee.

Breakfast is normally…

Whatever my latest smoothie creation is – usually something green!

Favorite morning beverage is…

Homemade almond milk latte. Lately I’ve been making my almond milk with half parts water half parts coconut water – it gives my latte a perfect nutty and slightly sweet taste. I start craving it before I go to bed.

Daily uniform this fall…

Vintage Levis, LNA white tee, leather jacket, and Marant white sneakers.

My favorite moment in the morning is…

Cuddling with my two dogs before getting out of bed. They walk right up to my face when my alarm goes off.

On the best mornings I…

Am drinking coffee in bed and being lazy.

I start working by…

Sitting down at my desk and seeing what’s on my list. If it’s not written down then I’m not doing it! I’m a serious multi-tasker and have to juggle between design and all the day-to-day business stuff at LNA.

Morning are normally filled with…

Dogs, music, emails and designing.

I get my creative juices flowing by…

Listening to music! I don’t start designing until I’ve sorted out my playlist for the day.

Healthiest daily habit…

Hot water with lemon, three times a day and green smoothies – I can’t tell you the difference this has made for my skin, immune system and energy.

I’m most obsessed with this currently…

Buying and potting plants. I know it’s weird, but I’ve bought a dozen new office plants over the past few weeks and just planted a cactus garden in front of the LNA warehouse. The office feels completely different with all this new life in it.

The recipe I’m making:

This is my latest go-to green smoothie that I can’t get enough of! Even my non-smoothie drinking friends love it. Its full of healthy fats and packed with fiber to keep you full and satisfied for hours. The sweetness from the bananas and crunch from the cacao nibs make it seem more like a dessert than a health drink! 

Mint chip Super Smoothie

Ingredients:

10 oz green juice (I use Pressed Juicery Greens 1)
1 large frozen banana
2 ice cubes
2 Tbsp of chia seeds (soaked overnight)
8 raw almonds
2 tsp raw coconut oil
6 drops of mint extract
2 tsp hemp seeds + more for topping
2 Tbsp of raw cacao nib + more for topping

Directions:

Place all ingredients in blender and blend on high until mixture is smooth and combined – no chunks.

Pour smoothie into glass and sprinkle with more cacao nibs and hemp seeds.

Enjoy!
