Louise Bonnet is used to being surrounded by beautiful things. As an artist and illustrator, she creates stunning portraits and paintings while her husband, Adam Silverman, is the creative director of Heath Ceramics—an iconic California tableware and tile line that fills the cabinets of the most stylish kitchens we’ve visited—and has his own line of ceramics called Atwater Pottery. The two, along with their children, call the Hollywood Hills home and have created a warm and inviting space that feels both totally inspiring and completely unfussy, filled with trinkets and treasures from traveling, friends and, of course, the drawing board at Heath’s studio. Whether she’s praising the importance of a good set of knives or showing off her impressive and beautiful collection of spices and local ingredients, this multi-tasking mom is all about the artful mix.

What’s your daily diet: I make a lot of soups. With italian turkey sausage, kale, leeks, fennel seeds, canellini beans is a staple. Or split pea and tarragon.

Entertaining go-to: I make this leeks, mushrooms, chicken pie from this really uncool old swiss cookbook called Betty Bossi. Everything from it is always great. But not cool…

Dinner on a busy night: Smoked trout from McCalls Meat and Fish up the street, avocado, tomatoes…My daughter likes soft boiled eggs with toast soldiers.

Quick breakfast: I am not very good with breakfast. My husband makes pancakes. We eat a lot of Lauren Soloff’s Granola with yogurt.

Changes in diet if you’re gearing up for a big event or vacation: I try to eliminate starch and sugar but I have a hard time with the sugar.

Usual workout: Spinning and pilates because of all the starch and sugar.

Necessary indulgence: A glass of white wine

Favorite recipe: Pierre Herme chocolate cookies with sea salt

Kitchen gadget: Good knives.

Pantry essential: I bring back this MSG free vegetable bouillon from Switzerland called Morga. I use it instead of salt. When I run out, I make people send me more.

Ingredient that makes everything taste better: Salt. I like a lot of salt.

Your dream meal:  Anything, anywhere with Yoko Ono or Shelley Duvall. Or both. I paint them a lot. I’m sure that they’re nothing like I imagine them to be, so I might be disappointed, though.
