TCM Classic – This story on Nadine Artemis’ oral health care tips originally ran in 2017. Some of these tips – and her book on the topic – are so essential we decided to bring it back. Especially this bit about flossing with oil!

We’re crushing hard on the real deal, deep wellness vibes coming from Living Libations founder, Nadine Artemis. We’ll admit it took us a while to latch on to this health and beauty brand with its throwback packaging, but once we dove into Nadine’s wealth of educational materials, we were sold – hook, line and sinker.

The video of Nadine above is full of just the kind of insights we’re talking about. We’ve pulled a few of the best tips and truths from Nadine’s guide to holistic dental care to share below — cruise through them and try a few at home (oil flossing might just change your life).

Use essential oil when flossing – This is our favorite of all Nadine’s tips for daily care. When flossing, add a dab of mouth-friendly, bacteria-killing essential oils to the floss. The oils seep into the tiny places that floss cannot reach and packs a punch of anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal power to your daily routine. We love the Happy Gum Drops for this.

Use a Tongue scraper – No one wants more health and beauty equipment to store in their medicine cabinet or dopp kit, but once you try a tongue scraper for the first time, you won’t be able to live without one. An ancient Ayurvedic tradition, tongue scraping helps to keep the mouth clean and has a positive effect on the entire digestive system. Try one here.

try an ionic toothbrush: Ionic technology attracts plaque off of the teeth and has been clinically proven more effective than regular brushing. These brushes don’t need plugging in, the ionic charge comes from a battery and metal plate embedded in the handle! Here’s the one Nadine recommends.

Spit shine: Saliva is alkaline, saline, and actually full of mouth specific enzymes and minerals that keep teeth and the whole mouth in vibrant health. Saliva is our body’s way of keeping the pH of our mouths stable. For healthy saliva, good hydration and nutrition are key.

your Teeth are alive. In Nadine’s words, teeth actually “sweat”. Just as trees have sap, teeth flow with dentinal fluid that originates in the lower intestines and flows up all way through the teeth and eventually “sweat” through dentin. This fact alone helps us to think of our oral care differently and helps us make sense of the connection between diet and the health of our teeth.

Blood sugar matters:  A high sugar or high carb diet affects insulin levels which in turn affects the parotid gland (largest saliva gland). Nadine describes continual high blood sugar as a dentinal fluid suppressor. That means that sugar in our bloodstream could be more detrimental to our oral health than the sugary coating in our mouths after a candy binge that dentists have always warned us about. We’re paraphrasing the Living Libations booklet here, but grab Holistic Dental Care for the full story.

  2. I was a dental hygienist, never heard teeth sweat, but they do absorb minerals, and toothpaste ingredients.

  3. I watched the video on the oral care. Since I was 8 years old I’ve been in the dentist chair starting off with 10 cavities (over 40 years ago) . At 15 I was told ” by the time it’s all over with” I will have had all of my teeth root canal and crowned even though I am very careful with my dental hygiene. I now have about seven or eight upper teeth left which have had a root canal and crown on each one. The remaining teeth have been lost to my crowns cracking off at the base over the years. I’ve been told by two other dentist that 2% of the population are missing an enzyme in their saliva which causes the decay. Are the items that are being sold in this video something that can help save my remaining teeth and the three that I have on my bottom jaw we are the dentist has placed I call it a Divet but there’s a name for it, it’s basically like a snap in the tooth base where the denture has a post that snaps into it . I definitely want to protect the top remaining teeth and especially the three bases where the dentist uses to create the snap. I’m the only one of four in my family that has had dental problems all of my life. Is this the product I wish I would’ve known about many many many years ago? In her video she sounds like she’s explaining what is needed to keep the enamel (mine is gone) on your teeth and the best hygiene available! Will this product help me now ? How do I order exactly what I need? I have had fibromyalgia for about 30 years and in speaking with others like me there’s about 50% of them that have dental problems such as mine and I would like to share this information. Thanks to anyone that can help.

  4. yes, the dentists willl not tell you, but you do not have to get a root canal at all, the first thing you will need to do is, if you don not want to buy her boo,. it can be pricey is the library- there are tons of material on how we can make our own toot powders to heal our teeth,, using coconut oil pulling to close cavities, and close root canaals, with essential oils, and proper chlorophyl powders, you donẗ have to aim to get the root cananal b/ once u do, your chance of healing become harder. but donẗ worry i have heard Living Libations products not only use outstanding quality ingredients they do heal, and make a difference, but in case your budget is low, there are ways for a person to a per a reputable blogs and do it themselves,

  9. Nadine sounds like a cukoo nutcase. Essential oils? Only oil that is essential is in my car’s engine.

  10. Vito, it sounds like you need a testimony, and some help to truly understand… if the only oil thats important is the one in your car.

Using coconut pulling, and a remineralization kit (that’s filled with minerals, essential oils, and a calcium specifically for teeth), and coconut pulling-I stunned my dentist into silence when he looked at my x-ray.

Let me be clear: he told me my cavity looked so bad I may need to get a root canal soon after my filling and would likely have tooth sensitivity just one month prior.

One month after trying the above, he stared at my x-ray (only getting the x-ray after I begged because I was reassured many times that the cavity would not change in only a month), and he turned around and said-“what did you do?”

Needless to say, I walked out of there with no filling that day and with him asking me to tell the hygienist what I did to my teeth to save it.

In conclusion-to Vito and whoever that reads this who may be questioning or doubtful-if you don’t want to have healthy teeth, keep being oblivious, and trust that using the normal toothpaste will fix things, and trust in the every day dentists who make a living off of your teeth being a mess.

Or, you can venture out of the box, wonder if we are missing something major with most seniors missing many or most, if not all… of their teeth.

Your teeth are alive, and you can heal cavities by using essential oils, minerals for teeth, and oil pulling. These actions kill the bad bacteria in your mouth, create the right ph, heal the microchannels in your teeth, and encourage your salivary glands to produce more saliva.

I’ve seen it myself and hope that anyone who reads can just TRY these other methods for themselves! ❤️
