TCM Shops: Inside New York’s Castor & Pollux

We love to know what inspires the folks behind the shops and brands we love. Castor & Pollux in New York’s West Village stocks a cozy mix of women’s clothing and accessories like Filippa K knits and colorful Abas wallets that reflect owner Kerrilyn Pamer’s comfortable taste. Before Kerrilyn dressed the stylish ladies who frequent her gorgeous shop, she dressed beautiful interiors all over town with Martha Stewart herself! That timeless, simple quality is now translated into C&P’s offerings of all-natural accessories, jewelery and beauty products that keep more than one New York lady stylishly relaxed through the New Year and beyond. We asked Kerrilyn to tell us about a few of her favorite style ideas for 2013 and how she likes to enjoy the shop’s West Village neighborhood during this chilly pre-spring season.

  • Inspiration behind the shop:

We created Castor & Pollux’s West 10th Street store and online site to share our idea of gracious living, beauty and inspiration.

  • Brands in the shop:

Rachel Comey, Ter et Bantine, Hache, Won Hundred, Risto, Alasdair, Lizzie Fortunato, Orly Genger, Caravana Montaecristo, Ursa Major, Kathryn Bentley and our own collection which now includes knitwear, jewelry and leather goods!

  • Your customer is:

An elegant, sophisticated woman who is confident, inspiring and beautiful on the inside and out.

  • Most popular items in the shop:

Rachel Comey shoes, Ter et Bantine outerwear. Our Maggie Bracelets sell non-stop as they make the most perfect gift - for others or yourself. Natural beauty luxuries like Tata Harper, La Bella Figura and Kahina Giving Beauty have been flying off the shelf!

  • Go-to Uniform:

I’ve been sticking with a solid skinny silhouette on the bottom paired with a voluminous top and always, always, always my Maggie Bracelets, wedding rings and signet ring that I had cast from my father’s.

  • Top 3 Favorite NY Shops:

Fragrances from Frederik Malle, for beautiful objects and Erie Basin for antique jewelry.

  • Neighborhood Hotspots:

I Sodi is lovely for risotto and a perfect glass of Italian white and we think L’Artusi has the most perfect salads and vegetables in the neighborhood. We love to head over early, sit at the bar and treat ourselves to an amazing Italian meal. Also, En Japanese Brasserie is one of my absolute neighborhood favorites. Exquisite food, meticulous attention to detail and a grand, soaring space make for a perfect night out with loved ones.

  • Recent obsessions:

I can’t stop thinking about moving to LA and living in one of the canyons in some gorgeous glass and black wood home.

Beyond fashion, each year I look forward to Hatch green chile season! We order them up from New Mexico 100 pounds at a time to roast and freeze and spend an entire weekend preparing them with friends. I love to give jars as gifts.
