Love the minimal, 70’s throwback boutique esthetic you’re seeing in shops everywhere these day? Us too. Jamie Rosenthal of Lost & Found has been a forerunner in that space, first with her 15-year old Lost & Found shop in Hollywood and now with a new shop near the beach in Santa Monica.

We love Lost & Found for Jamie’s curation of incredible small brands, whether unique knitwear, natural-feeling kid’s goods, or timeless-feeling home wares that become instant cult-level obsessions. Her recent collection for Anthropologie showcased what Jamie does best – from this graphic coverlet to a perfect glass bottle. Items from the collection sold so quickly we dared not include them in our shop!

Take a peek inside the new Santa Monica shop with us and check out a few of the thing Jamie’s loving now…

The shop in three words:

Airy beach oasis.

Brands you carry:

Women: Raquel Allegra from LA, Repetto from France, Pas de Calais from Japan, Local from Italy, r13 from NYC, Mesdemoiselles from France, Samantha Grisdale leather goods from LA.
Children: Bonheur du Jour, Lucky Fish and Woven Play.
Men: B’sbee, Hartford, Closed, Apolis and Vroom from Japan.
New Home Store: Ayilluminate lighting by Nelson Sepulveda, Khadi & Co. hand loomed throws, Mquan ceramic bells from NY, Michelle Keeler towels and Private rugs both from Turkey and a selection of home furnishings by assorted artisans from around the world.

Recent obsessions:

The community garden across the street from the new clothing store on Strand and Main Street. I am in awe of the variety and personality of each gardener’s plot. I dream of having our own Lost & Found spot there sometime soon!

Our customer is:

Neighborhood film/music industry and creative types, alongside a slew of surfers and European tourists who flock to Santa Monica on holiday.

Go-To Shop Uniform:

At the moment… r13 jeans, Raquel Allegra tees and a Pas de Calais jacket with a Khadi and Co. indigo scarf and an Il Bison leather bag finished off with a Reinhard Plank straw hat. I’m looking forward to cooler fall weather so I can finally layer the new chunky hard-knit cashmere cardigan from Private over new dresses from B’sbee and Local.

Perfect gift for the season?

Private Italian cashmere patch throw. Perfect for home or as a wrap. I never get on an airplane without it. The earthy palette makes it a great gift for men, too!

We’re always drinking…

Aloe vera water and chlorophyll water from Pressed Juicery.

Always stashed:

Almonds and other assorted nuts.

Always playing:

A great mix that our friend Hein Hoven made for us with everything from Miles Davis to Fela Kuti, Dylan, Talking Heads and Johnny Cash. I especially love playing reggae at the Santa Monica store – it makes me feel like I’m on vacation.

Candle always burning:

Le Feu de L’Eau. We launched these candles in our Hollywood store several years ago and they remain a favorite here at the beach too! I love the Rose Profound.

Nearby Hotspots:

Fork in the Road is a block away and my new favorite Main Street Santa Monica dinner spot. Chef Drew Adams brings his own inventive aesthetic to his farm-to-table menu that looks as beautiful as it tastes. It’s the perfect neighborhood hangout. Coast at Shutters has an ocean view and the perfect fish taco. Axe in Venice is close by and my longtime standby. Superba Kitchen in Venice is an amazing new spot for brunch.

Go-to Spot for Lunch Nearby:

Dogtown Coffee is across the street from the new home store on Main and Bay streets. They serve breakfast all day and we are partial to their breakfast burritos and tuna poke bowl.
