We love the beautiful glass bottles Kahina Giving Beauty uses for each and every one of their argan-oil based beauty treatments. If you look closely, you’ll find that the bottle’s flowing artwork is actually the signature of one of the artisan women involved in the creation of Kahina’s luxurious products.

Years ago, founder Katherine L’Heureux came across the beautifying argan oil treatments used by Moroccan women in her travels through the Africa. Inspired by this exotic and effective oil and the Berber women who made it – using traditional methods handed down through generations to extract the oil – Katherine was inspired to create a holistic line of beauty products that would benefit both the women who make them and the women around the world looking for all-natural beauty solutions.

As many of our favorite natural brands do, Kahina’s products feel both high-end and yet close to the earth. Very on point with Katherine’s own aesthetic. We asked Katherine (a participant in our recent Night of Green Beauty in New York) to let us in on a few of her own beauty rituals and favorite things via her very own Green Goddess Guide. Here is Katherine…

Green Goddess Guide: Katharine L’Heureux of Kahina Giving Beauty

Can’t travel without…

Kahina Toning Mist. I spritz it on constantly – especially during the flight to avoid dehydration! It’s also wonderful as a refresher post-flight, and even in warmer climates to cool off.

In a pinch I…

Use argan oil as my beauty everything: face moisturizer, makeup remover, on my body, in my hair, and even on superficial cuts, bug bites and rashes to help soothe irritation and prevent scarring.

Obsession of the moment:

Kahina’s new Fez Body Serum. The complex scent (which has spice, floral, and citrus notes) takes me back to my favorite city in Morocco, Fez – a really mysterious and intoxicating place.

Beautifying snack/meal:

Greek yogurt with blueberries and walnuts.

Beautifying drink:

Red wine – in moderation. I’m a big believer in the powers of resveratrol.

For ultra-glamorous effect:

I prefer to keep it simple, but if I must, I get professional help with hair and eyebrows!

Perfect pout:

Ilia Lip Conditioner in Arabian Nights. I’ve used it for years, ever since it came out.

Beauty tool:

Eyelash curler, even though…

Weirdest beauty habit:

I’ve always thought curling eyelashes was kind of weird.

In the shower I keep…

Moroccan hammam exfoliating mitt and savon noir. This Moroccan beauty ritual makes a world of difference for smoother skin.

On my bedside table…

Lavender spray and iPad.

Once a month I…

Visit Ildi Pekar for her Refining Facial.

After a long night or rough weekend…

I use Kahina Eye Serum to help with the puffiness under my eyes.

On little sleep I rely on…

A cup of coffee and One Lucky Duck juices throughout the day to keep me hydrated and energized.

The product that changed my skin…

Argan oil. I was so amazed by its ability to balance my combination skin that I created an entire skincare line around it.

Most treasured beauty tip…

Sleeping at least eight hours a day.

For glowing skin…

I gently exfoliate with Kahina Antioxidant Mask once or twice a week and follow with Kahina Toning Mist and Kahina Serum.

My go-to DIY:

I make a clarifying hair tonic I learned in Morocco to encourage shinier, fuller locks: In one liter of water, combine 1 cup of thyme, 1 cup of dill and one cup of sage.  I smell like a marinade, but I swear it works!
