Today we’re bringing you a familiar face as our featured Fridge File: Catherine McCord of our favorite recipe site, Weelicious. During the month of December, she graciously let us sneak a peek at her winter vegetable garden and today she’s sharing an inside look at her beautiful, sun-filled kitchen. Alongside her favorite sous chef, the adorable Chloe, she’s teaching us a thing or two about whipping up the ultimate winter salad (don’t forget to check out the delicious and simple recipe on her amazing site here). Catherine is the epitome of effortless elegance—her kitchen is full of unfussy tools, locally grown produce and family-friendly ingredients that will keep everyone happy and healthy. We love her approach to getting everyone involved in cooking and eating (one family, one meal—no short order cooks!) and will definitely be taking a lesson from her book—literally, her new Weelicious cookbook is an instant favorite!

What’s your daily diet: Greek yogurt, decaf coffee and fruit generally for a fast breakfast and then the rest of the day changes daily depending on what I’m cooking or craving!

Entertaining go-to: Putting everyone to work. I love having everyone make a part of the meal.

Dinner on a busy night: Stir fry

Quick breakfast: Yogurt parfaits or oatmeal in the slow cooker that I turn on the night before

Changes in diet if you’re gearing up for a big event or vacation: Zero

Usual workout: Pilates or a good walk

Necessary indulgence: Ice cream

Favorite recipe: Roast Chicken with Caramelized Lemons, Cherry Tomatoes and Olives (I make it weekly)

Favorite cookbook: Flavors

Kitchen gadget: Hand mandoline

Pantry essential: Almond butter and a great balsamic vinegar

Ingredient that makes everything taste better: Maldon sea salt

Your dream meal: This tiny robata bar in Kyoto, Japan where you point to an array of meat, seafood and vegetables and they cook it right in front of you and then trickle on a variety of incredible sauce with my husband. Heaven!
