20 Cooking Secrets from Inside Ayesha Curry’s Kitchen

Balance is everything, and we spotted plenty of it poking around our March Guest Editor’s fridge. For Ayesha Curry and co — including her basketball star hubby and their two little nuggets — healthy eating is essential, but a little brown sugar is fair game too.

We’re all about the Brussels sprout salads and wholesome proteins, but can totally relate to having a stash of emergency cravings chocolate too. Eating well is also about enjoyment, and if our kitchen explorations have taught us anything, it’s that everyone finds this in their own way!

From frozen grapes and smoked fish, to Manuka honey and milk, check below to see what Ayesha Curry keeps in her always-active kitchen (as well as a few things you’ll never find there)…

Always in my fridge:

Eggs, milk, grass-fed butter.

7 recipe staples always on hand:

Brown sugar, rice, mirin, soy sauce, lemon and olive oil.

Must-have munchies:

Frozen grapes, Daily Harvest smoothies, cold brew, banana chips.

Fave condiments:

Ketchup, hot sauce, sweet chili sauce.

Ingredient that makes everything taste better:

Brown sugar.

Go-to proteins:

Salmon, filet, chicken breast.

Best bargain:

Buying spices in bulk.

Best label-reading tip:

If it doesn’t sound familiar, try and avoid it! And no high-fructose corn syrup! Yuck.

Fave veggie + what you make with it:

Brussels sprouts! I love to roast them or shave them raw into a salad.

Must-have pantry staples:

Seaweed snacks (for my kids), apple sauce, tomato paste, dried pastas, cornmeal (to make my cornmeal porridge).

Craziest thing I buy:

Manuka honey. It’s super pricey but worth it.

Sweets and other indulgences:

Maynard’s candies of any sort. Lots of chocolate.

Dairy faves:

Dairy fave is milk! I love an icy cold glass of milk.

Skip labels that read:

Fructose, aspartame, cassein.

Favorite splurge:

Sturgeon caviar and smoked salmon.

For last minute entertaining:

The almighty cheese plate. The possibilities are endless, and I always keep things on hand to throw one together if unexpected guests arrive.

Favorite places to shop:

Diablo Foods, Whole Foods.

Simple go-to recipe:

Apricot Glazed Salmon from my cookbook The Seasoned Life. It only takes five mins of prep!
