Our overnight bag runneth over. Call it the ‘dark side’ of our obsession with pitch-perfect beauty products. The rewards of finding the perfect treatment for every skincare issue imaginable are quickly countered by the issues of shrinking counter space and diminished flight allowances. We love our full spectrum of bottles and baubles on the vanity and have learned to respect even the most minute differences between beauty oil blends, but every so often life just calls for something simple.

Perhaps you’re a minimal kind of gal already or are just going through a phase; maybe you’re headed on a backpack-only excursion or work from the tiniest office space man’s ever seen – whatever your reasons for wanting to consolidate your product load, we’re pretty sure we’ve found one of the most ideal ways. Neal’s Yard Remedies, in-the-know Londoners’ go-to beauty brand for decades, is celebrating 10 years of their staple skin treat, Wild Rose Beauty Balm – and this little jar can do it all. NYR means business when it comes to sustainability. Their deeply natural products are every English rose’s pick when it comes to organic skin care. Although we’ve been foiled by many the ‘wonder product’, this beauty balm really lives up to its long-standing reputation for healing a host of issues and keeping skin glowing on a daily basis. With a blend of rosehip, hemp and borage seed oils, as well as geranium, rosemary and frankincense – and little else – this rose treat melts in your hand and turns into the perfect solution for just about any of your skin’s needs.

To celebrate this great find and its 10 years of skin-healing history, we’re giving away 5 jars of Neal’s Yard Remedies Wild Rose Beauty Balm to 5 lucky readers! Below you’ll find 15 ways to use this multi-purpose balm to your heart’s content. Leave a comment below with your own ideas for this rosy stuff and be entered to win your very own jar. 15 Ways to Use NYR’s Wild Rose Beauty Balm

Cleanser

Massage a small amount onto the face, and remove with muslin cloth rinsed in warm water.

Moisturizer

After cleansing and toning, apply a small amount to the face, massaging in with an upward motion.

Facial Mask

After thoroughly cleansing and exfoliating the face, apply the balm over the face. Cover the face with a warm washcloth, and relax for 10mins. Remove any remaining traces of balm with the washcloth, and apply your usual moisturizer.

Lip balm

Apply a small amount to the lips.

Make-up primer

After cleansing and toning, apply a small amount to the cheekbones and other areas of the face prior to applying your powder foundation for a healthy radiance.

Nail Balm

Massage a small amount of the balm into the cuticles every night to encourage strong nail growth.

Heel Softener

After washing and exfoliating the feet, massage some balm into the heels. If heels are very dry, cover with clean cotton socks overnight.

Minor burns+abrasions

After holding the burn under cool running water, apply the balm liberally to keep the skin supple and help to prevent any blisters bursting. For minor cuts and scrapes, apply the balm onto the lint area of a Band-Aid.

Hair Treatment

Massage a small amount through damp hair when on the beach or by the pool to help protect the hair from salt and chlorine. To remove, massage a little shampoo into the hair BEFORE stepping into the shower, and everything will rinse away leaving the hair with an incredible shine.

Eyebrow tamer

After shaping the eyebrows, apply a small amount of balm to smooth and control.

Sunburn relief

A fantastic treatment to soothe the pain of sunburn, and help to prevent the skin from blistering. After a cool shower, apply liberally over affected areas.

Bug Bites

Apply directly to any bug bite or sting to help prevent itching.

Eczema+psoriasis

After a bath or shower apply to areas of dry and irritated skin.

Poison Ivy

Apply as soon as possible to help prevent blistering.

Scar treatment

When the wound has closed and any stitches have been removed, apply the balm morning and night to help encourage the growth of healthy skin and minimize scar formation.

  1. This sounds like a great multitasking product. I would also suggest leaving a nice layer on as a special night treatment for the face (especially those of us suffering from the polar vortex this year!); this could also be a great hand treatment with those lovely anti-aging oils, just slather on and put on some gloves! I am all about moisturizing and restorative treatments. Finally, I have recently cut my hair (it’s chin-length now) and have been on the look out for natural hair styling product and I think a pea-sized amount of this wonder could do the trick of adding some texture to my hair. The bonus, its quality ingredients will also improve the health of my locks.

I think that the sky is the limit for the uses of this beauty balm!

  2. During this crazy dry weather, it seems like there would be a million uses! But I’d especially love it as a mask.

  3. I love multipurpose balms, but have never tried this one. I’d use it most as a facial cleanser and moisturizer, but also think a touch of it on the ends of my hair would help prevent static and frizz in this cold, dry weather!

  4. This balm sounds amazing! I would particularly love to use it as a moisturizer and hair treatment. I use a rosewater toner, and the moisturizer I currently use is made with jojoba oil, which is soothing but still leaves my skin thirsty. Mostly I use coconut oil for my hair once a week to give it moisture. Thank you!

  5. This sounds lovely! I’m always seeking natural beauty products. The scar treatment use got my attention. I just got some stitches yesterday from cutting my finger making salad 🙁 so I would love to use this balm to help me heal 🙂

  13. I would definitely put this wonder product to good use. I would use it on my face focusing on my crows feet and dryness around my eyes due to lack of sleep because of my beautiful babies. Of course I would share with my family by using it on my son’s eczema, my daughter’s dry knees and my husband’s dry elbows. After all, sharing is caring and sounds like a wonderful product for a busy, health- and environmental-conscious family. But would just be over the moon to smell the lovely aroma to calm me and my family down.

  16. Wow, this balm sounds so perfect for me! The fact that it has a wide array of uses is brilliant. I LOVE that the ingredients are all natural! I’ve been wanting to incorporate rosehip oil into my daily skincare regimen.
I would definitely use this for my dry lips and hair! I’ve been trying just about everything and nothing seems to be doing the trick. This balm seems like it would work wonders.
To use it for bug bites would be great as well. I love being outdoors in the summertime, but I always get bit like crazy. I would love something natural to relieve the itching!
Overall, this product is just what I’ve been looking for. It would be wonderful to have it.

  22. Holy smokes! This sounds like an amazing product! I was just looking into the wonderful healing properties of rose oil. It is also used as a mood booster. I would love to be able to try this product on my dry lifeless skin.

I once had a rose named after me and I was very flattered. But I was not pleased to read the description in the catalogue: no good in a bed, but fine up against a wall.

  23. I’d definitely use this on my face as a night treatment and on my lips though out the day! Rose is said to be great for the skin, so I’d also use it on other problems areas as needed (such as dry hands due to the cold and elements). Plus, Valentine’s Day is coming up, so this would be a sweet addition! 🙂

  24. As a girl who thrives on experiencing life in the most natural way possible for optimal health, this product sounds too good to be true! I think the greatest application goes beyond the physical, even as it can be used for anything, using so natural a product in so many ways will make me feel beautiful inside and out. When I treat my skin to healthy, natural products, I am respecting myself and I radiate the joy that can only come with a positive outlook and beauty pampering.
Because I believe true beauty originates on the inside and effects everyone all around.
So my idea: apply for an inner glow, to radiate health

I’m having a complete revamp of my bathroom cupboard & make up bag to get rid of all chemical laden products and swapping them for organic & a super balm like this would go down a treat to try! Having a hard time finding any cuticle/nail oils without chemicals :-/

  32. Another fun way to use it would be to put smidge on your lashes before curling them to both define and help hold the curl. Balms are great for lashes! Also, patting a little on the cheeks over blush or powder adds a little bit of highlighting gleam.

  35. Sounds so very lovely! Right now, I would love to use it as a cleanser with the muslim cloth, then as a makeup primer to protect my skin from this bitterly cold weather. In the summer it would be great to put on your hair to protect from salt and chlorine. Love those multi-taskers!

  40. The Wild Rose Beauty balm would inspire me to take better care of my skin, especially since it’s an all-in-one, wonder balm. Before my morning runs, I would slather it on my face and neck to protect my skin against the damaging winter wind.

  41. I think I will try this instead of the coconut oil I have that I use as eye make-up remover/moisturizer/night cream/sun-cream/foot lotion!

  42. My most frequent use for this balm would be for my hands to help treat eczema that just gets worse with the winter weather. It would also be great to use just a dab to help groom eyebrows or calm flyaways. At the end of a yoga session, during savasana, the balm could also be used on temples to encourage deep relaxation. Namaste 🙂

  53. I got a sample of this from a rep I met at a women’s networking event. I mentioned burning myself often on the oven and having nothing to relieve the pain and the length of it takes to heal. Well, I burned myself once again and tried it…WOW!!! After a very short time, I couldn’t even find the burn. I immediately sent the rep an email thanking her. Now I read all these other uses and clearly it’s a must have. I CAN’T WAIT to try it on my daughters bug bites. Her reactions are terrible and her bites last FOREVER due to her itching. This was my first NYR experience and I must say, thank you!!

  54. I opened the doors with this company here in the US 4 1/2 years ago! The Wild Rose Beauty Balm has been one of my favorites since day 1.
I tell people that every household should have one.
I can report that because you just don’t need a lot the jar will last a year and that is with multi use.
It is a wonderful face wash, mask for hydration, for dry lips, feet, heels, elbows, knees, cuticles, burns ( I think everyone should have it for this reason. It has personally kept my skin from scaring and takes the pain and heat right out of burns) sun burns, scars less than a year old, bug bites, cold sores, bee stings, poison ivy and hot spots on dogs! Amazing Incredible product with a smell that is so inviting.
Please contact me and I will be happy to send samples or place an order for you!
