Smoothie Solution: Banana Almond Stomach-Soothing Smoothie

The holidays are upon us! With holiday gatherings come holiday snacks, meals, drinks and more. It’s easy to overdo it. This banana-based smoothie is a good primer to prevent overindulgence, or can help quiet upset stomachs after the fact.

THE PROBLEM: Holiday meals may often seem like competitive eating. Stress brought on by travel, logistics, clashing personalities, or a variety of other variables, can have you reaching for that second piece of pie or third glass of wine. If you arrive hungry, it’s especially easy to overindulge without realizing it.

THE SOLUTION: Having a smoothie on your way to holiday events helps ensure you don’t arrive hungry and also helps prevent mindless snacking. If you do overindulge, this smoothie uses bananas, a binding agent known to promote mucous lining of the stomach, and tea, to help soothe upset tummies.

Banana Stomach Soother Smoothie

1-2 large ripe bananas, depending on size
5-7 chamomile tea ice cubes
1 cup frozen peaches
1/4 cup milk of your choice (soy, almond, etc. – opt for a non-dairy option to help maximize the soothing nature of the smoothie.)
1 tsp agave syrup, plus more to taste if needed

Instructions

Blend all ingredients until smooth, less 1/2 banana and 3-4 tea ice cubes. Incorporate remaining ingredients and pulse again until desired consistency is reached. Enjoy!
