One Billion Trees for Earth Day

This weekend marks the 42nd Annual Earth Day! What a great opportunity for families and businesses alike to do something special in their efforts to green things up and support the conservation of our planet’s vital resources!

This year, French hair care line Phyto is teaming up with the Nature Conservatory in its “Plant A Billion Trees” campaign.  The conservatory’s goal is to replenish the diminishing Atlantic Forest of Brazil that, due to industrialization, has come closer to extinction that any other rain forest on the planet.  An ambitious endeavor? Yes! And we think that’s what Earth Day is all about: taking the time to focus on and celebrate the efforts we make to keep our planet and our communities in a healthy balance.

We love that Phyto has become involved in this important cause!  One of our favorite natural beauty brands, Phyto already does its part by packaging its all-natural products in glass and aluminum.  To support the Plant A Billion Trees campaign, Phyto is offering a limited edition Phytopolleine universal scalp elixir (retail value, $32.00) in a reusable pouch.  $2.oo from every purchase of this product will go to the reforestation efforts.  The Phytopolleine elixir is a potent blend of rosemary, cajeput, cypress, lemon and sage.  This pre-shampoo treatment booster perks up lackluster hair just as well as picking up a lackluster morning – amazingly refreshing!

Phyto‘s nationwide professional salon network will also offer special in-salon treatment days to boost fundraising efforts this Sunday, April 22nd, in celebration of Earth Day!

One lucky reader will also win a free limited edition Phytopolleine by telling us about their Earth Day plans in the comments below.  Tell us how you’ll be celebrating Earth Day this weekend and win!

  2. I will be making my first visit of the season to the farmer’s market for local, organic produce. I like to chat with the farmers about their suggestions for the best ways to prepare the items they sell. Then I will be spending the rest of the day experimenting with new, healthy recipes!

  3. This Earth Day I will be attending a trade-in event with my daughter at Origins where you bring in bottles (from any brand) to recycle and in return, you receive a full-size Origins moisturizer. It’s a wonderful way to recycle as well as to try a new natural skin care product. I am also planning to go through my beauty drawer and read the labels of my products to see which ones are natural and eco-friendly and which I should discard. After finding out I have an allergy to certain preservatives in skin care products, I am strongly in favor of using natural skin care that is good for the environment as well as for my skin.

  5. I’m celebrating Earth Day by being outside, where I love to be. I may play golf, one of my favorite outdoor hobbies. And I’ll be bringing my reusable water bottle with me!
