Actress Meghan Markle started The Tig to foster her passion for stylish living. Since food has been redefined as the center of that whole paradigm in the past few years, The Tig covers quite a few very Chalkboardy topics in a way we love. Whether it’s a chef talking lifestyle or a tastemaker talking food, we love the mix.

We asked Meghan to share a few of the personal health tips that keep her on top of her game, on-screen and off. Her serious and useful responses only compound our affections for this brunette bombshell! Here’s Meghan…

My daily supplements:

Can’t live without my:

Passport or my global entry card.

Daily breakfast:

Clean Cleanse vanilla shake with blueberries or an acai bowl with fresh berries, manuka honey and bee pollen (that’s my absolute favorite).

My food philosophy:

It’s all about the balance.

Fave workout:

A six-mile run with my friend Heather.

Once a week for my health I:

Sit in an infrared sauna and sweat out all the toxins.

On tap:

Pellegrino with lime, or a big Mason jar of filtered water that I refill throughout the day

Best fast food option:

A green juice. That’s fast. And it’s food. (It’s been many moons since I went through a drive thru.)

Best healthy restaurant tip:

Take your time. Order your starters and have a glass of wine, and then see how hungry you are before you order your next course. It’s a great way to enjoy dining in general… pacing yourself and enjoying your food without rushing through it and you’ll inadvertently eat less. Alternatively, I would say one of the best tips would be to put your phone away. It’s healthy to be present. Everything can wait.

At least once a week I cook…

Roasted cauliflower with chickpeas and hot curry powder – it finds its way into my salads, or as a side dish that I constantly nibble.

If I could give just one piece of advice it would be...

That thoughts become things, so it’s important to stay as positive as possible. It’s crazy how it trickles into everything in your life.

Reading list:

Wild and The Power of Patience, which Rob Riggle just told me to read (he and I just recently went on a USO Tour together traveling to six countries in seven days including Afghanistan, to thank the troops for their service).

Go-to health resources:

Dr Junger and Dhru Purohit – they have been my wellness coaches at the Clean Program for a couple years now – and Prescription for Nutritional Healing — I always reference that book to help fix what ails me. It’s awesome! My mom gives me an updated version every time they come out.

Crazy health idea that actually works:

A facial with Nicola Joss where she literally sculpts your face from the inside out – the most bizarre and rejuvenating facial of all time when a woman has her hands in your mouth. Hurts so good!

5 things always in my medicine cabinet:

Tea tree oil, neurofen, bandaids, yoga balm, and Honest Company’s Organic Healing Balm (that stuff is amazing!).

Non-negotiable:

Kindness.

Simplest way to improve health:

Surround yourself with people who live a healthy lifestyle… it rubs off.

Fave healthy getaway:

I haven’t made it there yet, but the detox retreat with spa treatments at Como Shambala in Bali has remained at the top of my list.

My current mantra:

I am enough (I wrote a story about this on my site, The Tig).

My health passion:

I have been a longtime believer in acupuncture and cupping. I used to have debilitating migraines (hospitalized for them), and acupuncture and Eastern medicine absolute changed my life. Migraine-free living is a game changer.

Health trend to skip:

That baby food diet – oh my goodness, don’t even get me started. That’s absurd.

My go-to juice or smoothie:

See below. I also do the same thing with frozen mango, a squeeze of lime, swap the cinnamon for turmeric (which has unbelievable healing properties!) and just use coconut water. Nom nom nom!

Ingredients:

1 packet of your shake powder of choice (I use Clean Cleanse vanilla)
½ cup of frozen blueberries
1 tsp of cinnamon
